No, the OTA fails. Leaves me with the little Eclaimation Point. So I tried the RUU.

I think I will got back and start the process from stratch. Maybe I screwed up a step.

Okay, my nightmare is over and I am fully rooted Froyo 2.2 I went back to the video and followed it closely. What was causing the problem was not getting the UnRevoked driver to install. I thought I had it installed, although Windows was calling it Android USB Driver. I would uninstall that one, plug in the phone and when it asked for drivers, I would direct it to the UnRevoked drivers but it kept telling me that I had the best drivers. At first, I believed Windows, since I know I had Unrevoked installed before. But it did not label the device the same. Finally I did an UnInstall Driver, located the physical files and deleted them and then went back and forced the new drivers to install.

My other heart-stopper was at the very end. When, trying to go into recovery, it just hung with a White HTC screen. I would wait 10 minnutes and then pulled the battery. Before going back in, I deleted PC36IMG since I accidentally fired it off twice! Third time, it found the Recovery Menu and all went as planned.

Scarry, btw in the guide it tells you to make sure about the drivers and about deleting PC36IMG.zip so you don't have to wait to tell it not to update a second time ;)

It's all in the details.. Glad you got it sorted.

No doubt it was in the instructions about the driver and I thought I had installed it but Windows was fighting me. As far as the PC36IMG, I am referrring to the finally install, before going into recovery. Because of the long delays, I was starting to click buttons too many times and set up the condifions for a install. No harm, no foul.

I will stay at 2.2 Froyo for a while. Besides, I have about of month of PHP to work on.

I was able to back up to the 2.2 release and am now doing the OTA update and of course, everything was lost. Oh well, it was time to clean it up again.
