My method was almost identical to the OP's. But I want to put on the Amon RA recovery instead, tried ./flash_image recovery /sdcard/recivery-RA-evo-v1.8.0.img through an adb shell with su permissions and get a permission denied. Question, do we end up with nand unlocked?

OOPS: welp I went ahead and flashed the file on post #18 with the AMon_RA 1.8.0 update. It worked replacing clockworkmod recovery with amon_ra and replaced hboot 0.93 with 0.76 eng, but I am now stuck in a bootloop and only way to get out is reflashing a custom rom :(

Yeap, exactly as me, basically stocked 2.2 rooted with s-off, but with clockworkmod recovery. I just want to replace it with Amon RA. Which I just did, but had to also flash the eng hboot 0.76 and got stuck in a bootloop until I reflashed netarchy's rooted stock 2.2 on top. Funny thing it didn't wipe my phone.

I wish I could keep 0.93 (stock) hboot and still have amon_ra recovery, but it seems to have problems with non eng hboot, I am gonna have to go back to clockworkmod for now...

Too bad, I really like being able to ms-usb sync through the bootloader to manipulate stuff via pc without rebooting the phone every time..

I am at 2.1 rooted with UnRevoked 4 ever (the boot loader says 'Off")
From here I have tried to install the RUU RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.26.651.6_Radio_2.15. 00.07.28_NV_1.40_release_140444_signed

I keep getting an Error [171] USB Connection Error. At this point so I have to pull the battery each time.

I have re-installed HTC Sync but no change.

I know I was here before when I was installing the very same RUU to recover from the advanced leaked release but I don't remember what I did to get past it.

are you in bootloader mode when you try and hook it up? or did you boot into the 2.1 rom first?

I just follow HTC's instructions. I plug the phone into my PC and the phone starts up in 2.1

It leaves me at a screen with a white HTC and tells me to check my USB cable. Of course, my connection is fine. This installer was able to see the version on my phone so it is obvious that the connection is sound. I can also mount my SD Card.

boot into 2.1 turn on usb debugging. plug phone in; charge only mode; than run ruu 2.2

Ok, I am about to try this method. Question, at what point will I know I have rolled back to 2.1 in order to follow Boos steps? I am afraid.....very afraid!!!!

you follow the steps over at xda once you boot up you go to your phone settings and it should tell you your using 1.47

When you say Boot into 2.1, you simply mean start the phone. Right?
The only rom on the phone is now rooted 2.1
When I look at the SW info:

I have placed the USB in Debugging, plugged it in and set the phone to Charge Only.


It brings up a screen that asks me to verify that you want to update the ROM version:
From Image version:1.47.651.1 to 3.26.651.6

I click Next twice and it tells me Rebooting to Bootloader.........

At this point, I see the big HTC on my phone and that is where it hangs.

After a minute of so, I get the Error 171 and it tells me to check my USB cable.

All I can do after this is pull the battery.
