Speaker problem

I work in steel shop and noticed little pieces of metal chips stuck to my speaker when i removed the battery cover, I tried blowing them off and now the speaker sounds blown. I also tried putting a magnet over it and got most of them off, but still the speaker sounds like crap now, any suggestions on how to correct this?

Re: Speaker problem

had the same problem here. i didnt even think that chips from the machine shop i work in could have caused this issue. i have never had a problem with speakers in the 7 years i have been working with steel. i was still inside my 30 day period and i just took the phone back for a refund because there are no phones to be found in my area.

Re: Speaker problem

You put a stronger magnet over a weaker one? Hmmmmm, something tells me that may not have been the best idea, especially when one is somewhat finely tuned. I could be wrong, just doesn't seem like a good idea......

Compressed air on a tiny speaker probably wasn't a good idea if it was from an air compressor which I'm assuming since you work in a shop. That's what compressed air cans for computer components are for. Hope you have insurance.

No I didnt use compressed air, i just manually blew on it lightly, the speaker seemed to get worse after this, then I used the magnet to try to pick up the rest. I dont have the insurance through Sprint, but doesnt HTC offer a 1 year warranty?

I think they have a one year warranty but that probably only covers defects not something that happens like a broken screen or speaker. You could probably buy the tep from sprint and then take it in a little later and complain. Not sure if that's legal or not but you're already giving them a ton of money over the course of 2 years. I keep the tep on my phone because phones cost too damn much to replace these days.

Re: Speaker problem

You purchased the Evo without TEP? Always, Always buy TEP on these advanced devices. The phone may be $200 after rebate, but full retail is close to $500...thats a pretty big investment to not have some sort of insurance on. The 1 year mauf. warranty is only good for defects on the phone. The Sprint TEP covers everything (lost, stolen, damaged) doesn't matter if you ran it over, that $7 a month will save you from having to pay full retail for the phone. If your still within your 30 days...you can still add the $7 fee...but anything after that you are on your own.

Re: Speaker problem

I bought the phone without a contract, unfortunately my 30 days are up and I forgot to purchase the TEP. However, the speaker in in the EVO only takes minutes to replace,=D> the kicker is they are not available anywhere right now, does anybody have a clue where you can get a replacement speaker?
I already had the speaker out and delicately cleaned all the tiny chips off of its foil-like surface, however it still sound like poop, Im guessing its blown from jammin' too much Godsmack full volume on Pandora. Rock on!
