I thought it was easiest to call and ask. I said they gave it to me but I forgot the number. LogCat never worked for me on the EVO

So if im on stock 2.2 what do i do to get started cuz im lost i see a lot of people having NAND backups an recovery an since im unrooted i cant boot into recovery so where do i go from step 1 if im on stock

If your on stock you need to either get your MSL from tech support and follow the directions in post one or reset your phone from recovery (hold volume down when powering on the device) I would get the MSL and just force the hands free activation so you don't lose your data.

Confirmed, this worked for me using Mr. DSL post. Only problem is I could not restore my latest backup. I'm still fully rooted on OMJ'S latest rom.

There is no step 1 for you.
If you're not rooted, then you're probably already on PRI 1.40.
Unless, you use to be rooted then decided to do the OTA, which is beyond me why anyone would do that when there was a rooted version of the OTA before the official OTA was even available, but anyways.

If you were rooted and got PRI 1.34, then you did the OTA and lost your root, you're stuck for now. Until someone figures out how to give you root access.

Rebooted and let the ROM load up for the first time..I didn't setup ANYTHING!!

It rebooted my phone for me and I just let it reboot.
Once it rebooted it did the update crap.
checked my phone info and it took it the second time I tried

jump into recovery and loaded some old rooted ROM from like months ago and it also showed 1.40

NAND restored my CM6 install.
After a couple of different methods, this worked for me! thanks. I'm in Houston incase people think location is a factor.

Ok, tried them all and its not working for me. During the ##786# process I get an error as well. "Error v30 Voice message will be delivered when data comes available" happens when Prl tries to update and firmware. then I check and have no voicemail. not sure if this is interfering but I guess who knows??

There is something else going on. I updated 2 EVOs no problem. I am on my 3rd EVO my friends and no matter what I do it's not going. Location or something else is affecting this!

totally agree. I really have tried every method except unrevoked. I happy to just be fully rooted at this point. will be in SC next week so maybe it will update there.
