Rooted Froyo 2.2 and Wifi Tether not working

I updated to the Froyo 2.2 rooted stock ROM recently and immediately tried out the WiFi Tethering app. It runs, it says it's broadcasting, and I can see in the list of available networks on my computer, but the computer just says "Identifying..." forever. It never pulls an IP address. Is it not compatible yet? It was working just fine before I upgraded.

I depends on which kernel you are using.
Which ROM did you download?

I tend to stick to the stock ROMs. I always run into bugs with custom ROMs.

Did you try the pre7 version

There are versions that work with the stock rom. You may also have the access control on goto settings access control in the wifi tether you should see your pc mac address and name and ip address. click on the if it is in red then it has not been allowed access click the button to allow access then the button at the bottom.

The pre7 version, posted by Darkness321 does work with the stock kernel. I have tested and confirmed this is the case for me.

wifi tether pre6 also works with stock kernals (working for me)

You need to update radio as well. I found out the hard way too.
