Well, its actually more than the battery cover..
its also the frame around the cover, like the white evo.

And thats the buy it now price -_-

i thought if you stripped off (by scraping off) the grey from the battery door and the black from the surrounding sides, theres red around it??

i was thinking the same and the paint looks awfully thick imo, would prolly chip pretty easy wit that thickness... and was the cover sanded for proper adhesion?

3 light coats of Dupli-Color adhesion promoter
3 light coats of Red Krylon fusion paint
2 light coats of krylon clear coat.

Its really not that thick, and it actually came out alot better than i predicted.

It's not that people are hating, it's just that you're trying to rip people off with a buy it now price of 800, an initial price of 450 (retail), and promotion to boost the actual auction, all for a painted battery door and outer trim. If that's not ripping people off, I don't know what is.

I could never understand the need to make a quick buck at others expense, which is why I was even more disgusted at the price the Google I/O EVOs were going for. I mean if one could afford to go to the Google I/O conference to begin with, one wouldn't think the person was in that much need of money that they would purposely try to rip people off by selling a phone for 400 dollars more than the retail price.

Ok, well I never would expect it to sell for that much, but who knows if the bidding got that high... I never said people were buying it for that much.. that would be insane. I'd be happy, but its not gonna happen...I'm mostly selling it for shits and giggles.

I'm atleast expecting to get what I paid for it..which was $500. If it sells for that I'm happy, and for more well.. more money to pay of college debts..:/

Well if its like the white one what makes you think anyone is going to buy it for that price when they can go to best buy and get for 199? I do like the red though, nice job:)

The google I/O thing I can understand since the phone wasn't officially released yet and something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. If I had a goolge I/O phone and started the bidding at $.99 it would have still sold for quite a bit if I listed it early enough. Its all about supply and demand

I don't think anybody hates you. They just hate the price. :) But of course it's not realistic, so you shouldn't feel hated. lol .. NIce color too.

And you asked for opinion, here is what I think.

You should have painted the trim white to offset the look. It would look nicer.

Also going from black to white i thought would be a lot of coats, is your pretty thick?

These people are just hating because they want ur red evo. Why 499 is not realistic?? Thats almost the price of the evo off contract.. who said people could just get it at meatbuy? Pleaseeee this red evo is a great option for those who have to pay full price. Good paint job but i think it does not look that good for me.

Did you have to dissassemble the phone to paint it? Obviously the battery cover comes right off but what about the area around it?

Yes I had to open the phone up.

sanded it, masked off, cleaned off with alcohol solution,
sprayed adhesion promoter 3 coats, 3 coats of red krylon fusion.


Also while i had the phone apart i put a tiny drop of oil on the spring for the kickstand, no more annoying squeeking!!

The color looks a little orange to me. As far as the person posting 3 different times about the OP "ripping people off" give it a rest. Nobody in the world has to buy this phone. If someone bought it, it would be because they want to. You're acting like the OP just figured out a way to funnel off your grandparents pension and life savings by painting a cell phone red. Or you're acting like he is making outbound sales calls to diabetic retarded children telling them this will cure their diabetes. It's not your money so relax. If some1 has 800 to spend on a phone i doubt they'll be using their sick relatives dialysis money.

While I may not shell out $800 for it, I would pay the going rate on an Evo for it.

It looks good to me. You should have done the front speaker red as well to match. (It really bigs me that they left the speaker sliver, it should match the kickstand port/inside of the phone IMO).

There are so many things wrong with that. The big one is it should say "Welcome to the worlds first red evo, please make sure you like having big paint chips come off because your oils from your hands will break it down. So on that note please be sure to never touch your evo." Seriously eeewww lol. ;) Oh and not to mention I hate the color red lol.

I had to send my phone back to geek squad because of my cracked screen. long story short the phone was replaced after over a month of waiting with a white one. they let me keep my old black cover,battery ect.

i took the white cover off and replaced it with the black one. so, my evo has a white strip in the middle. think oreo cookie.

i will take pics later if i get the chance.

It would look better if there weren't obvious lines on the side that aren't even. You can see that you didn't use that blue painters tape because the lines on the side are curvy instead of straight...
