Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

FYI - I read through the thread on XDA.
Then I flashed the stock signed rom 1.32.651.1.
Then I did the OTA which got me to 1.32.651.6
Then i did the OTA again and got to 1.47.651.1

Then I did the steps from the thread at XDA and re-rooted my phone w/ full NAND access.
I re-wrote the instructions w/ more details, but they are the same as what is on XDA.

My phone is Hardware Version 0002.
So, I believe some people are having issues, but version 0002 is not the reason.

This is simple root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=706411

This method only works if you're on version 1.32.651.1 or 1.32.651.6.

If you're still trying to gain root after doing the OTA 1.47.651.1, simple root won't help you. However, if you're stuck somewhere in between and you aren't sure, it probably can't hurt to try simple root.

I gave up...the battery was dieing stupid fast too, so I let it take the OTA update again to 1.47.651.1 because it runs WAY better with it installed...maybe I'll try one last time.

the first 2 lines seem fine (they repeat the code back at me like it says they will), and the third line gives me:
mtd: read all-zero block at 0x00000000; skipping
mtd: not writing bad block at 0x00000000
error writing misc: No space left on device

Did you hard reset the device prior to trying to root?

Yeah, assuming this is like windows mobile and a "hard reset" is when you go into Settings-Privacy-Factory data reset-Reset phone-Erase everything.

I just tried again...same step fails, same error message...yet the phone allows me to flash the engineering PC36IMG.zip...which is booting back up now...what should I try after this?...should I continue on and try to flash the recovery?

Flashing recovery worked...I'm going to try flashing the sprintlovers rom...should be the same as what I was running except wireless tether should work...I'm in recovery using usb-ms right now to put the zip file on the sd card...so...maybe everything did work despite the error?

Re: 1.47.651.1 ROOT Method Exploit Poll

sprintlovers won't flash...it says it can't find a script and then says installation aborted...is this a problem with the rom download...or did I break my phone?...or is something still not done that I need to do?

edit...it wouldn't flash from recovery...but it DID flash from the normal hold volume down hit power on method...SO...I guess my only question is...I have root...am I all unlocked and everything? How do I know what my phone is and isn't at this point?
