ok, just to let some of you who are also having this problem know i fixed the issue. the issue is in deed the new update for google maps has completely screwed up navigator. check out the comments section for the app in the market after the new update. everyone is getting this error, or a ton of people are. i found the previous version of google maps via a google search and installed that and i have no problems now.

google needs to fix this problem asap. the problem only occured with the latest update. so don't upgrade to the new version if you haven't or rollback if you can to be safe cause there are a ton of bugs in this new version.
