Angry HDMI out issues

is any ones phone locking up as soon as you plug in an HDMI cable? i attempted to watch a movie from my phone over the weekend. I had no idea it would be such a pain in the ass!

first i could not play .avi on the phone so i had to convert to .mp4. i searched around and found a dvix player but it would not play my .avi's. just opened a black screen and then closed immediately.

so then i got the file converted to .mp4 and xfered it to my phone. it still would not play. soft reset did the trick. BUT my phone locked playing the file. i couldn't exit or do anything it was just stuck playing the movie. i had to pull the battery.

next i tried just getting the phone to connect HDMI , which i have done once before with no issue, but as soon as i plugged in this time the whole phone locked again. again i had to pull that battery.

is any one else having trouble with HDMI or have any ideas on how to make this a little less painful?

Re: HDMI out issues

I have no problems playing 480p or 720p videos (movies ripped from DVD / BR.) They play fine using the default video player on both the EVO screen and via HDMI out to my TV. I use handbrake to create the files.

Re: HDMI out issues

I use Handbrake (for Mac) to convert my .avi's & dvd's to .mp4, they play perfect in the stock video player. Handbrake is free for Mac & pc. The search engine is your friend.
