Could you name one? I'm constantly being asked if rooting the phone through toast method breaks anything. I always tell people "No" because I have yet to see or hear of anyone having an issue if they do all the steps correctly.

If there is an issue, I'd like to add that info to the tutorial so that people are aware of it.
Thanks.

MLB atBat 2010. After I rooted my phone I could no longer find it in the marketplace. AppBrain had it listed, but as it transfered me to the marketplace to purchase, I get an error message that it's not available.

Thanks for the reply.

FYI - Don't know if something changed, but I searched "MLB at bat" and it came right up. I didn't try to install because it's $15, but it seems to be working now.

I got a buddy of mine who is technology inclined and is in another state he wants his HTC evo rooted I sent him here and had him pull @FastRX8 guide which is what I used to root my phone awesome job by the way on the guide @FastRX8 but he read it and is afraid hes going to not do it right. I was look at xda forums and ran across this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...93&postcount=1
Which seems to me is a simple 1,2,3 process has anybody used it and does it work as simple as 1,2,3 and so easy to do it that a caveman can do it lol. If anybody has any experience in using this program let me know. Before I recommend this to my buddy by the way he has a windows 7 64bit system if that helps. Thank you

Yes i used on my Evo works good only negative is you cant make nand back-up using simple root 1,2,3 but not really a big deal and im running Windows 7 64 bit had no issues "unless you do 1, 3, 2

Re: Simple Root

I used this method as well. I followed all the directions and the video. The only problem I had was related to a 2 GB memory card. For whatever reason, Simple root was unable to "push" the needed files to that card....and there were no error messages. You just had to pay attention to what the step was doing and if step one appears to be complete in less than 2 sec's something wasn't right.

I recommend it. As was mentioned earlier, you can't make a backup, but if your flashing a custom ROM like OMJ, do you really need a backup?

I say go for it, watch the video as you perform the steps.

Oh yeah...at the end when he says to wipe your card....WIPE your card.

Peace!!

the ones that it breaks app wise ( example ) are Grooveshark , Geo wallet , and etc. you may not notice them because they dont even show up once your root your phone the long way. i found this out the hard way when i compared my rooted phone to my brothers phone where he could get certain apps of the market but i couldnt

In this episode of Myth Busters, we'll test apps that reportedly break after a full root on the Evo.

Myth #1 - MLB at Bat, doesn't show in the Market.
Myth #2 - Grooveshark, doesn't work or show
Myth #3 - Geowallet, doesn't work or show

Here's my results after testing on a Full Rooted rom. (OMJ's 1.5)

MLB at Bat - Searched "MLB at Bat" and found the app. Didn't install it because it's $15, but it does show up in the Market.

Grooveshark - Searched "Grooveshark" and found it. Installed, signed in, selected a playlist that I've made on my pc in the past, rocked out to some Pearl Jam.

Geowallet - Searched "Geo wallet" found only one app called "Geowallet" so I'm assuming that's it. Never tried it before. Installed, created a sign-in. Added a credit card, changed some settings. Closed it, re-opened it, entered my password, and all my settings/stuff were there.

Thanks for watching and stayed tuned for the next episode :)

Re: Simple Root

OK, I just realized what you guys were talking about regarding "broken/missing" apps.

If you root, whether it's full-root or just Root Part 1, and don't install a rooted rom, you will have issues.
I'm willing to bet that when you guys tried rooting and didn't see apps in the marketplace, you were still on the same rom.
There is a rooted version of the Sprint rom that can be used if you're not interested in using a custom rom, or if you're happy w/ the stock rom.
Basically, rooting the phone w/o flashing a rooted rom (even if you just flash the rooted Sprint rom) will break the Marketplace.

Mystery solved. :)

I just tried the simple root (I did the OTA update) and I guess it's broken for now since it keeps telling me my "main version is older!" at step one.. figures, soon as I get the balls to do it, I can't.

I was just about to ask if I can still do simple root now that I have flashed the update, dang it!
