Root and updates for a noob

okay i have a fully rooted evo, through toast and i flashed fresh 3 on it...now my question is to fully understand what is safe to upgrade and what isnt, so i wont break my root

PRL update - safe or unsafe
Profile update - safe or unsafe
OTA update - safe or unsafe.....i already know this one is unsafe
Firmware update - safe or unsafe

PRL and Profile are both safe to update. Not sure about the firmware and the OTA update may or may not break root.
If you want the OTA just wait and pretty soon they will come out with an update.zip that is safe to flash.

Im pretty sure that there aren't any Firmware updates available so you can hit that all you want and it won't mess anything up. But I guess it would really depend on the Firmware update itself as to whether or not it would break root.

so I've downloaded the EVO_1.47.651.1_Rooted.zip from the website. My phone is rooted but I'm not sure how to get this update on my phone. Can someone help point me in the right direction?

the same way how you install the stock zip, or put it on ur sdcard and flash thru recovery
