Whats a good back up App for the EVO?

I am switching to a new EVO since Sprintis acting up and wont discount my phone or give me a rebate lol now I gotta return it and go to best buy. All this because my other line is eligable but my line isnt . Whatever, Sprints rediculouse sometimes.

Anyway I just want somethign that is going to back up my contacts and and contact pictures. Also will my apps stay in the app store so I can redownload them or am I gonna loose them? Lol I suspect the apps are connected to my google account and I dont have to back them up just redownload them right?

Thanks, Thomas

Contacts are linked to your google acct. Backup your pics on your SD. Apps, you can just redownload them or use a backup program. I use MyBackup and it's a free 30 day trial.

For sms, mms, bookmarks, call loga, and all that stuff get mybackup. Smooth and easy everytime. For apps, theres nothing better than titanium backup. It'll backup the app,and all the data ad settings along with it.

I recommend Titanium Backup or Sprite Backup. Not free, but very worth the $

Re: Whats a good back up App for the EVO?

There have been multiple threads on this already but since you asked, I use "My Backup" You can use the free 30 day trial or buy the pro version for $4.99. Do a search for it on here and you will see more of an explanation of what it does.

As for Titanium, I believe you have to be rooted to use that. Not a big deal if you plan on rooting anyway.

You have to be rooted to back up the DATA along with the APKs. Otherwise your data will be gone.

Re: Whats a good back up App for the EVO?

Use sprite backup with caution. Thats what I used when I updated my wife's hero.I got some pretty nasty looks from her while she was re-entering her contacts by hand because sprite wouldn't. (she had never set them to sync with gmail for some reason)

Re: Whats a good back up App for the EVO?

for contacts and calendar info...you cannot beat syncing your Google Accounts. Really, that is a HUGE reason to go android in the first place right?

I don't even use the Exchange Server sync anymore...especially if you pool all your email acc'ts within GMail.

Contacts take awhile to clean up within Google Contacts...but once that's done...its a thing of beauty.

Apps...I use Titanium...and I keep a copy of MyBackUp as well. If you have a rooted phone...then you should know to do a nand backup (complete backup image of your current ROM setup.) You might want to think about using AppBrain and sync your apps to the cloud.

Re: Whats a good back up App for the EVO?

I am still looking for a solution to back up email account settings. I have several accounts, and with all the flashing I do, it's a PITA having to manually enter the account details for each.....

Re: Whats a good back up App for the EVO?

I am not rooted. The apps I paid for, I wont have to buy them again will I? One of the apps yxplayer I had to purchase a security code. I am afraid if I redownload the free trial ill have to purchase the code all over again is that true? I am not looking for all the details just simple answers so I know what to search for.

Thanks for the info so far.
