Re: what is a widget

Widgets are little programs that you can stick on your home screen and tweak them and move them.

That clock on your home screen is a "widget" if you click and hold it you can move it, throw it in the trash (this does not delete it but removes it from your home scree), or move it to a different page.

To add a widget go to the page you want it on, tap and hold anywhere on the screen, then add "widget" scroll thru the widgets till you find one you want, then add it. It may or may not give you a set-up thing, after which it will add it.

no, because they actually DO things. The weather widgets update weather, the clock ones give you time, the score ones give you live score updates, the facebook one shows different friends' statuses, you can move them all over your home screen or to different pages.

the WM shortcuts are just icons that open programs.

Re: what is a widget

It's more like a desktop gadget in Windows 7 or sidebar gadget in Vista. While a shortcut merely launches an app, a widget offers some light functionality. For example, a news widget will show updated headlines but launches the full news application when you click on the headline. Hope that helps.

Re: what is a widget

Widgets = battery drain.. haha

I think of widgets as remote control or an active access/display panel to a certain program/app.
