What is the best file/convertor for video playback

I was hoping to start ripping some DVDs again... whats the best program to use.. I was going to try Daniusoft DVD ripper, but if there is a better one im always up for it...


Also what is the best file type to use for playback on our gorgeous EVOs?

I use run MixZing. My files are mostly MP4 and .avi

I have not had any issues.

I recently got into this and bought Aimersoft DVD Ripper (you can get a discount code if you google it, I got it for about $20). I'm new to this, but this software was simple. I now carry the whole Bourne series with me and am slowly ripping my collection...works really well. I'm ripping to mp4 using one of the default iphone settings.

+1 for handbrake. Its across all OS platforms.

are these ripping programs ones that use the actual file and convert it... or do they just do frame capture? I want to convert, not capture...

I'd like to know as well. I used cucusoft that ripped movies to the ipod format, and it comes out terrible on my EVO, probably due to the larger screen on the EVO...however when i put in transformers from the hd2 the picture was INCREDIBLY CLEAR on my EVO. Anyone know what converter I can use to get that clarity on my EVO?

I use Allok 3gp psp mp4 ipod video converter ...converts to an from almost anything love it and its fast....but that maybe my i7...
