Battery Life - Awake Time / Up Time

I've been following the battery life issues since the phone came out. The first few days, my battery life was great. I installed the OTA update and then battery life got bad. Then I noticed an issue the other day. On days my battery life was terrible, I noticed my phone's awake time was nearly the same as the phone's up time. I realized that the phone was never really going to sleep even though the display was off. I've tested a few times and this is what's killing my battery. I fully charged the battery last night and rebooted my phone to reset the up and awake time counters. I went to bed with less than 4 min on the awake time counter. When I woke up, the awake time was at nearly 2 hours and up time was at 8 hours. It seems something isn't letting the phone go to sleep. I'm going to hard reset to see if it's an application issue. You guys might want to check this out.

Re: Battery Life - Awake Time / Up Time

No it is going to sleep obviously but something wakes it up occasionally (well more than occasionally). The Hero had this problem for awhile but up time and awake time always matched. It is possibly your background services or maybe an app you have that checks for updates and data periodically.

Re: Battery Life - Awake Time / Up Time

If you install spare parts from the marketplace you can check what app is keeping it in partial awake mode. For me this was caused by the calendar because I put in Flickr account info

Yup, that's what I'm saying. On days my battery lasts 6 hours, the uptime and awake time will be nearly identical. Last night, I actually got decent life. The very first night I got the phone, the phone lost 10% over 8 hours. Last night it lost 30% over 8 hours. Other nights, the phone has almost gone dead overnight.

Re: Battery Life - Awake Time / Up Time

i had this issue... first my phone started rebooting itself every few minutes and it wouldn''t stop even after reboots or pulling out the battery. So i checked the battery info and i noticed that up and awake times were identical even when i put it to sleep. I noticed that every time the phone reboot itself, the gps icon would kick in in the notification bar right before. So I hard reset and i haven't had the problem since.

I have been debating the hard reset myself ... never liked it on my tp, tp2 as doing over all settings is a royal p.i.t.a ..... at this point after trying every other supposed fix whats left

Re: Battery Life - Awake Time / Up Time

i turned off mobile network and now the phone is sleeping properly. i'm going to try to figure out which app is causing the data connection to constantly be active.

Re: Battery Life - Awake Time / Up Time

i just checked my data usage on the sprint site. my plan reset on the 6th.

4,751,398KB/ Unlimited

4 gigs of data in 7 days... That's more than twice what I used with my Hero in a month. Something is constantly downloading data and killing my battery life. Updates later in the evening...
