I've also noticed that when I used another program to take a picture, they end up being really small too. For example, Sniper Shot: I turn the take a picture setting on, and when it takes the picture, it's really small in the middle of the screen, like a thumbnail almost.

Here's a workaround until I can actually find how to fix it in the HTC version(I've only been able to decrease image quality so far )

I now use the handcent messaging app in the market. It doesnt downsize pics much or if any and its has many more options and useful features than the stock messaging.

Handcent still resizes them. How do you install the zips posted in this link?

This isn't just EVOs, it's all of Android 2.1. This wasn't an issue on 1.5. I noticed this switches from my Hero to Evo, then realized it was Android 2.1 when I upgraded my wife's hero from 1.5 ROM to a 2.1 ROM. There is just way too much compression on this thing, there has to be some kind of hack to tell it to compress it less.

Not sure if its a bug, but here is my experience with MMS. If I take a pic, then send it from the album menu, the person never receives it. However if I go into my SMS and attach a picture through there they receive it. As for the OPs question, I want to know as well why it shrinks it so small LOL. Maybe the EVO is too co cky and thinks any other phone going to get it has some small 2"X2" screen.

haha same here. if you look at your picturemail account, it does send, but to a blank recipient...weird huh?

Just tested the same picture between the two. The stock messaging app compressed the picture to 17kb, Handcent compressed it to 745kb, I'd say we have a clear winner. Convinced me to switch, and I just downloaded it for this little test :p

Sprints limit I believe is 5mb's I dont know why the phone sets the limit to 2mb's. I do recall a similar post already and the discussed limit seemed to be 5mb's.

I run a app called Handcent, its awsome far as sending pic and receiving them.. I can received up to 1200kb for a pic and foward it out. Far as attaching a pic from my gallery, it shrinks it down to 300kb or so.. So i'm happy with Handcent. its in the App Market..
