I have a feeling that EVRC-B is not actually enabled unless you change the additional EVRC-B setting in ##3282# Advanced settings. I have an Airave at home which I have read does not support EVRC-B. When I changed the Home and Roam settings to EVRC-B as per the original thread, calls continued to work on the Airave (there is a tone at the beginning of the call that indicates that you are connected to the Airave. When I then set EVRC-B to enabled in ##3282#, the phone was no longer able to make a call while in the vicinity of the airave. Several attempts to place a call failed. As soon as I disabled that option calls began to work again.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I duplicated this problem with my airave (had it about a year). I disabled the EBRC-B and set everything (home, roam, and enable/disable) back to stock and my phone started working properly.

In fact, the voice mail app popped up with a few vmails that hadn't shown up. Don't know if it was a separate issue or not.

EDIT: Gonna set mine to Voice 13k, supposedly better call quality, but EVRC handles low signal areas better.

Also can attest to this. It seems like some towers have the B and other don't in DFW and if I'm in one spot, call quality seems fine. But when traveling tower to tower it seems to cause a lot of static and drop outs. I've switched back and will see if the issues persist.

So after reading 10 pages, just a handful of people actually reported results on topic, and the rest of the country reported on their conversation with a CSR about their MSL.

Would anyone have any valuable info on this settings change? Thread has been dead for a while, but maybe it is still a worthwhile change to make?

For its time it had a lot of good information.

I made both changes to the Home and Roaming and also made the change in the ##DATA# and everything seems to be working properly for me. I am not certain if I hear much of a difference in the call quality, but no issues with making or taking calls.

Yes. Get the msl program in the market. It will show you the msl right on the screen. The only catch is you have to be rooted.

No way at all as of right now. Just tell the agent that you would like to speak to Evo tech support and that the Sprint store advised you to call to get your MSL to change the bandwith to EVRC-b due to poor call quality. I got mine in less than 5 minutes.

If you are rooted, a free market app will give you your MSL.

What has worked for me and two friends...

Call sprint. Tell them the GPS is not working.. you googled and heard ##GPSCLRX# fixes it. They will give you the MSL. Worked 3 out of 3 times.
