Upgrading Radio

I hadn't seen this anywhere else. From geekfor.me i saw there was a new radio update,So i checked my radio and it was the old one. So i downloaded and followed the instructions. which in indianapolis i would get horrible reception after doing the radio update i have like all full bars and a constant 3g. Got all the info from the website

http://geekfor.me/

i had zero issues when using their instructions worked perfectly.

Haven't checked to see if i get a better battery but just a better signal is amazing.

Re: Upgrading Radio

Downloaded but I wont install until I see some additional feedback on this... anyone willing to test this out (and possibly have a 1GHz paperweight)?

Yeah, I know. I guess I was asking if the new number ends in 531 because thats what I already have on my evo.

Re: Upgrading Radio

Ok confirmed to work however I found the instructions somewhat lacking.
1 has to be done form the pc via adb commands.
so first attach usb shutdown anything that might be talking to the sd card. be sure from windows you choose to unmount your sd card so windows doesn't have it open and mounted as a drive.
2 go to the evo-recovery directory.
3 type in adb-windows reboot recovery
4 after the phone reboots run the windows-recovery.bat
then follow the instructions from the link provided by the op. Toast also has this posted over at XDA.

This does work don't know yet about better reception or battery I went 12 hours today with only 50 of battery used. This may also take care of the bad wifi signal some were reporting. I also find it interesting the I did the OTA before rooting but apparently in android the radio is NOT in another part of the firmware the way it is in winmo. Because if it were I would already have it. ALso the OTA does not seem to take on rooted phone it has tried to run a couple of times on mine and not worked. This does not seem to be breaking root as I am using free wifi tether to type this now.

Re: Upgrading Radio

When you do the OTA HTC software update...the radio update was installed. Those tools are under Settings > System Update. My baseband (radio) says 1.39.00.05.31 which is the same as the radio version from Geek for Me listed above.
