First thoughts as a brand new Android and EVO user

1) My main question is why the GPS sucks. It doesn't seem like I can get a lock, inside or outside. It always defaults to the wi-fi triangulation. I am in the same places as I used my TP2, and I could always get a GPS lock. Yes, i have turned GPS on.

2) The battery does suck. I hope this has to do with the Sprint bloat and in the future custom roms will make this better.

3) 4g is fast. Makes downloading on EVDO seem so slow.

4) When I exit an app, is there anyway to quit it, other than a prog like advanced task killer?

more later. Is it worth it to root yet? I denied their OTA update, so I *think* I should be fine on that front. But are any of the roms good?

OH, and the ZAGG invisible shield is a bit too sticky for my liking. Anyone know of a nice smoother (and preferably matte) one?

you don't need a task killer for android. it automatically frees memory as needed.

There's the Advanced Task Killer that Mobile Crunch mentions in their guide to prolong battery life:

YOU will find they are still needed. For like gps type apps, non responding well apps or huge 3d intensive games games like asphalt 5 or homerun battle 3d. Every couple days its good to just kill everything. It'll make things smoother.

But killing everything all the time will make battery life shortened when ya keep reopening the app.

Also I've noticed speedtest.net app seems to eat a little battery so I kill that too.

Not needed as much as windows but still a great and usefully app at times.

Oh and I took it off the charger around 8 am and I still have 48% battery left while using 4g, streaming from slacker, youtube and about 50 texts... 4 phone calls.
