I made a search and I found that is working on an unrooted devices..

Actually, during a speed test, there is no bottle neck. The CPU is going to receive the data as fast as it can get it, and that's fast, even with a 528MHz CPU.

The only difference we'll see between the Evo and other devices is web page loading speed since the CPU needs to parse out the HTML. That's where it becomes the bottleneck.

So its the CPU that is responsible for the speeds?

For instance, if you were to put a Hero or a TP2 on a wifi network and an Evo on a wifi network....the Evo would receive faster down/up speeds. So the CPU is responsible for this and not the radio?

Am I correct?

Only if the webpage you are viewing is complex enough, lots of graphics etc... that it is choking out the slower cpu.
(Or your doing encrypted file transfers, SCP for example).

The CPU is rendering the page. So if it is an "intense" page with a lot going on...then yes, a faster CPU would yield better performance. If your just talking about downloading a basic file, then you likely wouldn't see much of any difference.

Well yes, I agree with regular web page viewing.
But say on a purely speed test. Such as Speedtest.net with the Evo and a TP2/Hero connected on the same wi-fi router.....the Evo would perform better. (As in download/upload speeds.)

It just sounded weird to me. Or maybe I just confused myself lol :dontknow:

In a strict speed test, they should be the same or very similar. At the speeds we are talking about, 3g/4g/wifi, the bottleneck should come at the network interface, not the CPU. At these speeds the overhead is pretty light.

No, it's the connection that's responsible for the speed of received data. It's the content that needs to be shown (webpages, etc) that are affected by the speed of the CPU.

Yeah, I initially thought they would be the same. But someone did a Speed test comparing the Hero and the Evo, and the Evo got a considerable amount of a speed boost on it. I was left scratching my head. They were both on the same wifi. The only thing I can guess is the radio but its on wifi so I don't know why it would effect it. Unless something fishy is going on...

This is not my picture, I found it on another forum but take a look at this:

Re: Lets see your speedtest results

well, you are introducing some unknown variables (IE: a different route being taken each test, or that test server's load) when you run a remote speed test like in the screenshot you posted. Ideally, you'd transfer a file within your network, say off of your PC of fileserver to each phone.
That way the only limiting factor is your network connection on your device.

That said, a 5mbit difference is pretty sizable...

It is possible that the Hero had a "poorer quality" radio in it, resulting in slower speeds vs the Evo.
IMO that seems a little unlikely, but I have no idea of the exact specs in the two phones.
But, as long as it's the Evo getting the better speeds, I'm happy lol

shootme works on the evo, no root. so does the led light that needed root as well. weird huh?

lol well the pictures were not mine but they were both connected to the same router.

But like you said....as long as the Evo is getting better results...I don't care! lol
