Rumorama: EVO 4G’s Qik Powered Video Chat To Cost An Extra $5/Month?

so let me get this straight....I can use qik on my TP2 for free,, but however if I have an android phone ( specificaly the Evo) I have to pay $5 bones a month? This is why I hate heavy marketing of these phones....all the wolves smell blood.....

On another note, all these services that are seeming to be extras are things I not only don't have now, but that I don't want at all. So me not paying for and not getting them is hunky dorey.

I'm looking for a great phone to use in my 3g market that wont fail on me as hard core as my Touch Pro has, this phone has all the bases I want to have covered. There is no scaring me away now.

It's looking like it's only Qik video chat which this is pertaining too, if true. You don't have video chat on your TP2, regular Qik uses remains free correct?

correct.. i think qik got the idea to charge extra from charging 4.99 for certain nokia phones.

weaksauce. i'm surprised sprint didn't find a way to charge a mandatory fee for it, especially to users who won't be using video conferencing at all. ha.

on a serious note, did sprint ever claim that being able to use qik is one of the reasons for their $10 fee? they've been promoting qik a lot... they've mentioned their $10 fee, but not qik's separate $5. i always assumed qik and the use of the front facing camera for it is one of the reasons for the "premium" charge.

these additional fees impede the adaptation of things like video chat. i would use it, if it was free.
