Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
This comes right from xda, so all credit goes to the original dev/OP. I tested and confirmed it works, this should be pinned here. You also do not need cdma workshop for this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...45&postcount=1 This works on the hero and i assume it will work for you EVO users too. :toothy10: |
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
IT will probably work on the Evo as well. There is a similar procedure you can do in Windows Mobile to capture the MSL through logging.

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
or ask your best buy rep for the phone details sheet - it has msl on it...
|
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
I just have Sprint supply it to me...
|
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
I was just about to post this here but I have tested it and it does work.
"Before doing this make sure you have aLogcat. Also its easier to find your MSL if you go into logcat and "clear log" before doing these steps. **Refer to the attached pictures if you get lost**

Try this.. Go to the market and download aLogcat. Run aLogcat, press menu then clear log. Go to your phone number pad dial ##3282# then select view mode. Click and hold the home button on the bottom of your phone until a menu pops up, click aLogcat. Then click menu and pause. Scroll up the log looking for green text and the line you are looking for is... I/EpstBroadcastReciever At the end of that line you will see MSL = xxxxxx |

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Rooted phone, none of the methods work for me. Piping it to grep, the only mention of EPST is:
I/EPST ( 859): MSG_INITIATE_FIELDTRIAL.EPST and a version string after it. No results for grep -i msl, or grep MSL. |

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
lol theres even a thread here about it...
which links to this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...45&postcount=1 and yes same method applies for evo |
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Looks like this method no longer works if you installed the OTA upgrade.
|
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Fastest way to do this is calling sprint, this is what I told the lady. " I was just messing up with my new evo, can I have my mls" she said: "sure... (waited like 3 seconds) are you ready? it was that ez.
|
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Well, chat is no go for MSL. Guess I will have to call them.

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Hey I tried to find the MSL code without Sprint or CDMA workshop but no success. I used the demo ver. of CDMA workshop step by step and it Freakin worked. It took half the time I spent looking in Alogcat. I unplugged the EVO this morning around 7am, now its all most 5pm and the battery is at 70 percent! Whereas b4 it would be dead.I changed SCI to 0, ACCOLC to 2, enabled EVRC-B in Home Orig and Roam Orig. HELL YEAH inya FACE Sprint!!!!:laughing6::-P:king::joker:

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Speaking of getting MSL numbers from wireless carriers lol I got bored one day (warning of explicit language) and decied to do a spin off from the iphone 4 vs evo videos. I used my own personal experience i didnt really say these things per-say lol but it was def what I was thinking.

Also sprints customer service is declining again. Just wanted to put that out there. Still getting great signal and great data speeds with the Evo 3g but other then that. I basicly want to shuv a big dilido in all the sprints service reps mouths just to shut them the hell up. They litterly must be hiring people who dont know a phone from a hole in the ground. "A phone.. WTF is that?" |
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Yes sir I do agree. I've applied 2x and have had a couple interviews if just pure tech talk, and they won't hire me. My joke about it is that I'm too competent for them lol.

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Just got my evo today (fresh from RatShack, rev 03, 1.32), rooted via unrevoked, and am unable to view any MSL lines within alogcat. In fact, there is no I/EpstBroadcastReceiver lines at all as viewed in the "help" images posted on xda.
Must I be fully rooted via toast's method to be able to view? I mean, its no biggie, I can always call in for my MSL, just tested what I've read here and figured I'd report my findings. |
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
+1... 100% agree
|
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Doesn't work on stock Froyo 2.2. Worked fine on 2.1.
|
Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
This worked for me. Thanks! +1

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Just wanted to add in, called *2, once you verify the number you are calling about, option 4, then option 6...asked her for my MSL, no questions asked, and I had it.
|
All you need to get your msl is the app from the market. No need to call anyone or try some weird procedures. The app is called msl reader. Of course you have to be rooted otherwise you have to use the other methods.

Re: Guide: Get your MSL without sprint or CDMA workshop
Just go to Market and download MSL Reader. Its free and works only on HTC cdma devices like the Hero, EVO. and Incredible. Must be rooted....
