Maybe they did that to fit the HDMI out? Or its the new standard. I believe the Incredible is microUSB as well.

You can get MicroUSB cables for $2-3 all over the internet. Cheaptastic. It'll be a new standard anyway.

I think its more of a generational thing... every few generations as power consumption and requirements change, update the cord so you dont mix them up

cheap is cheap, but nothing is cheaper than what you already own. lol Like others, I have tons of regular usb cables. Now I'll have to put those away and get all new ones for the Evo. Cheap, but dang HTC.. lol
