TP2 - Upgrade question
I have the Tp2. I got it the day it came out. Which was in the end of summer or fall in 2009..
So TP2 users have not had the phone over a year. How are people upgrading to the Evo already from the tp2? Paying full price? I am not eligible yet for the 150 upgrade. Maybe I am just missing something... Any advice/help is appreciated. thanks |

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
A lot of TP2 owners (including me) got theirs through TEP from their failing TP. Maybe some are Premier customers that get annual upgrades??? When exactly did the TP2 come out? I know it wasn't in June.
|
Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
Depending on timing, Premier members get one upgrade per year, and could use that.

Yeah, I had it in October I think. So definitely has not been a year.
Ill give Sprint a ring just to see if I can sweet talk my way in. :-D |

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
it was Labor Day weekend remember.. some of us had to wait till tuesday to get our phones due to labor day weekend because sprint doesnt do saturadt deliveries...
i got my TP2 for $199 on launch day.. it wasnt an upgrade.. just an offer extended to me by phone call like a few weeks or so before the device launched.. i remember i wasnt even that excited in the begining about the TP2.. maybe even hated on it some LOL.. but after i got that offer, hellz yeah i was geeked.. they did give me 75 bucks instant credit to renew on the same telesales call.. so as far as i was concered my TP2 was only $125 on launch day.. Im sprint primier, but only one line on a mutliline account gets to be the actuall premier customer and thats my TP2 line.. my 2nd line is whats upgrade eligible on 6/1/2010.. 3 days b4 launch.. we confimed it at my pre-order today at radio shack even... your right though, primier customers that used their upgrade on a tP2 shouldnt be eligible till around labor day.. |

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
Honestly, I don't have much of a plan. I pre-ordered at Best Buy hoping that maybe they could sweet talk Sprint into canceling my SERO plan and putting me into the $69.99/mo plan with a new contract. It probably won't work but it's worth a shot. BB has been able to get me full upgrade pricing 6 months early before...so who knows.

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
Got mine with a 75 off thingy for my premier status....
|
Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
I purchased my TP2 from this forums cash. So I have never signed a contract with sprint. I will be using that to get my EVO.

only thing Premier got us extra at TP2 launch was free shipping and waived the $18 activation fee |

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
Does anyone know if it's possible to change the "primary" phone within a family share plan? Our family plan is in my wifes name so her number is the premier status number, and she upgraded late last Summer. I upgraded early Sept when the TP2 became available, but don't want to go through all the bells and whistles to upgrade on her line for the EVO then transfer it to my number, cuz she doesn't have the extra data pack, etc.

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
So I got my TP2 a few weeks before launch, and switched from Verizon to Sprint. I am a Sprint Premier Member though. Does this mean that I am not eligible to get the EVO on an upgrade? (Even the 75 off upgrade?)
Edit: I just got a text from Best Buy saying my upgrade date is 9-1-2010, so basically I'm screwed unless I can talk to someone at Sprint and have them move up my upgrade date? |

In your case have your wife buy the phone on her account and when they activate it tell them to put your # instead. |
Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
I got mine on a 2nd line that I dropped earlier this year due to a $.10 fee Sprint added which gave me the right to cancel with no ETF. I am soooo glad I did not waste my upgrade on the TP2, so I can have my Evo

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
I got my TP2 as a TEP replacement for the faulty TP1, which I got as a TEP replacement for my Mogul (which I bought 2nd hand off of Craigslist)... I think my contract expired at some point while I had my Mogul or shortly after I got my TP1 so I've been out of contract for a while... I'm perfectly willing to renew my contract to get the EVO for $199 on launch day... speaking of which, I'll be making a trip to my local Radio Shack to place that pre-order today :D

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
So if your only eligible for the 1 year $75 off upgrade price, do you ONLY have to renew for 1 year or is it still 2 years??

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
Okay... so I just finished a chat session with a Sprint rep... they let me use the upgrade eligibility for another phone on my family plan since mine was not eligible until Sept. 2010.
The only caveat... I would pay $299 but I could NOT use the $100 rebate since I would not be keeping it on that phone. :-( |
Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
I got my TP contract free... had too many problems with the TP so they gave me a TP2...

Actually that was something the Sprint rep told me as well. If I kept the phone on that line for 30 days, I could use the rebate. The only problem is that line is my brother-in-law's line and I wouldn't want him to, A) be without a phone for a month and, B) have the enjoyment of using the Evo for the first month since that was supposed to be for ME!! :laughing6: |
Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
I talked with a rep and they said that I would be able to "buy up my upgrade time" Something like 30-50 dollars would move my September date to June.
It sounds like it is 10 dollars per every month it needs to be moved up. Since she told me to wait until June 1 and call. She said she notated the account, so I will be pre ordering my phone today. Woo. |

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
well I was summarizing before.
My wife had an instinct (she hated it with a passion - Drop calls, missed calls. etc..) and still needed to wait 5 more months for a new phone. So I called yesterday and the retentions rep made it happen. Charged me 50 bucks, and then she was eligible for a 2 year upgrade. An hour or so later, the sprint website showed she was eligible for $150 as of may 1st. She got a Palm Pixi last night (didn't want the evo) There was no mention of ETF. At the end of the call, I asked her about that with the EVO.. she said it would be cheaper for me because I am closer to my renewal than my wife was, and that she would notate it. Told me to call back in June. |

Re: TP2 - Upgrade question
I just spoke to a CS and was told that Sprint has a new policy which states that ANY phone purchased through any 3rd party vendors (BB, RS, etc) will NO LONGER BE SERVICED AT ANY SPRINT REPAIR CENTER. She was telling me to wait until October (when I have my full upgrade) so that they can work the "bugs" out of the phone. WOW.
