I remember there were several tiers of power vision plans, and the cheapest one was like $5 more than the old Vision plan. I also remember it was a big deal because the power vision plan included unlimited picture mail, and the 6700 didn't even work with picture mail (without installing a hack ported over from the Verizon version of the 6700).

I remember this pretty clearly, as I upgraded from the 6600 to the 6700 at that time (like I'm sure most of this board did).
I also worked at sprint during the change from 1x to evdo and there was no price increase.

Wrong, lol.

Are you saying Power Vision was the same price as Vision?

Check this old thread:
http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/sp...n-service.html

Back at that time, there were countless threads just like it on all the forums. Power Vision was more expensive, and everyone was trying to keep their old Vision plans (which worked with the 6700, by the way, if you were lucky enough to get a rep that would activate the phone).

I wasn't lucky enough to get a rep that would activate my 6700 on my old plan, and my bill went up. If I recall correctly, it was like $5 per month more. I htink my Vision was $10 per month, and Power Vision was $15 for the cheapest one (unless you got a retenions offer, which everyone started doing).

I'm not saying 4G will cost extra, in fact, I'd be pretty surprised if it did. But EVDO did cost more than 1X back then. Back then Sprint wasn't losing millions of customers every quarter though, and was actually making a profit every quarter. Plus, there was no iPhone and Sprint had the best phone lineup.

Really? That's exactly what they did not only to Sero users, but others like me on regular voice plans with $15 power Vision. And I see more and more switching to the Everything plans which have no more benefits than my plan. So what's to keep them from paying even more for the EVO?

They did try and convince me when I got a touch pro2 that I was required to get the $30 vision plan. Well, I still have the $15 one.

I don't see myself giving up my $43/month plan until there are no more Touch Pro 2's left in the world. Or maybe if I get a significant raise and feel like throwing some extra money away!

By your own words, they didn't force you to change, but they urged you to do so. And why is that? Because they are a company that is built to try and turn a profit and upselling plans/add-ons is one way they can do that. But like I said, and you just proved, they didn't force you to change.

Sorry, to clarify " in order to use an Android phone, they ARE forcing us to change to an Everything Plan!" Which is one of the many reasons I am still on A Touch Pro2.

So correct they aren't forcing you to do anything. If YOU want an android phone then YOU have to change your plan. Nobody is forcing you to get those phones. Eventually you will want to upgrade then you will have to get a new plan. old plans for old phones. new plans for new and upgraded phones and services, whats so hard for people to understand? So you want your old plan to work with new phones that have upgraded services but you think its fair to keep your old plan, go figure

Re: New plan changes for EVO 4G???

actually picmail wasn't built in but the smms app thats been around for years did work on the 6700 which gave you direct access to picmail and would let you send and receive pics on your actual device.

Not true. When the PPC 6700 first launched, there was no pic mail app, and no work around. Pic mail just flat out wouldn't work on it (the Sprint version, the Verizon version had it).

Someone came up with a solution after a while, but Sprint eventually blocked it. Someone then came up with a different pic mail app after a while, but the PPC 6700 was pretty much dead at that point anyway.
