I was working on an app to do the same thing, but got beat. Those of you that came over from the TP2 may remember that I was the one that first posted a way to force roaming on the TP2, in this thread:

And others made it better, into a widget or program or whatever you want to call it. Anyway, I am a little slow on Android yet, and despite getting accepted into the Android Development Team, I still don't really know what I'm doing. I'm an old man, for Christ's sake lol

Roam Control works great for me also..on both my EVO's using newest Fresh ROM

The roam control app does truly force roam um..naturally. This means you will only get 1x data. The prl trick is the only way I have found to use verizons towers and get 3g speeds. I am just really cautious about this. Showing 3gig of roaming data sounds like an invitation to get backdoored by Sprint.

The way I understand the prl thing, is once changed, phone will not even try to connect with Sprint towers, only Verizons.

In the mountains I drop out when switching between Standard and Roaming. Coverage is so spotty that I would just as well stay on Roam until I am back on the Sprint reservation.

not sure what Roam control did but after i made it roam and switch back to home only it boosted my net speed by 100% i was getting 150k down on Sprints 3G and now im getting 755kbps down.. woo hoo this is a great app so far haha
