uh oh.. we have a war..
for once it seems vzw is trying to beat sprint by launching the incredible (almost identical device as the Evo) on April 29th... they already started preorders for it.
wonder if this will make sprint think about releasing it sooner  |
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
Knowing Sprint probably not but they should.
|
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
i doubt it will phase sprint. because they cant even get web devs that can make a working website.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.3521/764; U; en) Presto/2.4.15)
bigger screen and hdmi and front facing camera and cheaper plans with the evo. if people were smart they would wait. |
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
i agree.. the only advantage the Incredible has is its AMOLED OLED screen.
|
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
This is typical Sprint, they will let this opportunity slip through their fingers.....such a pity
|
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
I personally think the EVO is a way better phone.
|
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
Bigger screen = much better phone. 3.x" screens are so 2008.
|
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
Of the two, which one would be best to just throw the money down to buy and use for like an e-reader and access to developing android apps?
My specific question being, taking the coverage and phone portion out of the conversation which one is the absolute better device? As I am....unwilling to lose a SERO account I am thinking of doing such a thing. |

If Sprint were smart and their people were thinking, this phone would be in the FCC and stamped and shipped in May. As close to the Incred launch as possible and well before the Iphone, but yeah, I know, wishful thinking. |

4.3 in screen vs 3.7 3g/4g vs just 3g 1024 rom vs 512 rom HDMI, 720p camera 8mp camera + second one for video conferencing vs just an 8mp camera fm radio vs none 1500 mah batter out of box vs 1300 mah no secondary rom but comes with 8gig microsd card vs 8gig built in with micro sd card support of up to 24 gig voice and data in release or future release (using 4g for data) vs one at a time not enough of the same for alot of people to go "hmmm incredible is here but evo isnt" I know quit a few AT&T customers and US Cellular customers around here waiting for the release.. even a few Verizon customers cause Verizon service SUCKS in Oklahoma. http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomp...=2233&id2=2234 |

Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
they also cant afford to release this phone late ither though it needs to be on the heels of the incredible and out weeks before the iphone hd to make a dent in the iphones sales

no 4g = cause they don't have a 4g network no second camera = thats cause its CDMA.. much lower memory = not really its mostly rom thats lower but you have a 2ndary 8gb rom smaller screen = yes but its AMOLED screen..plus screen size boils down to preference. Just to note the incredible is not the supersonic/evo >.>..its closer to the Desire aka Nexus One |
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
I'm sure Sprint knew about this, which is probably why they're so heavily advertising the Evo. Anyone who knows anything about smartphones is going to know that the Evo is far superior.
Anyway, I think Sprint is doing the right thing. They want to make sure everything works well before they release this device. It's revolutionary and does a lot of things, and I'm sure they don't want to risk releasing something so new without making sure it has all the features that people want (COUGH iphone 2G). |
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
Not the same phone.
The Incredible is more of a Nexus One with Sense. The Evo has a much larger screen, 4G, 720p output via HDMI, and a front-facing camera. |

I owned one, and while it was a love/hate relationship...it was mostly hate. It was NOT what it was advertised to be. Over $100 Million was spent: See this article. Based on a custom Java-based OS, a slow cpu, embarassing stock browser. The only awesome part was the giddy GPS navigation, and voice-recognition software that helped you find nearby businesses. I'm getting off-topic now.. I just hope this phone is as amazing as I'm hyped for it to be. This time we have an awesome OS, fast cpu, and blazing fast 4G networking speeds. I just hope I am not disappointed. Hooray for EVO!:) |
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
well maybe i exaggerated by saying "identical" i guess "similar" would have been a better choice.
anyway, i don't think even if sprint wanted to they CAN'T release the Evo. from what i've read it's not even "ready" as in there is no 4G software on the OS running yet. i too agree they will lose out on quite a few sales if they don't release before the crapple iphone, i think if Sprint really wanted to be on top they would have people finishing the Evo up by working on it 24/7 and releasing it asap. sprint lacks the brains so i bet they will be sticking with their June release. |

Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
The Evo is an awesome phone, but honestly I'd prefer the Incredible thanks to the smaller size.

But consider ye this:
Sprint has announced the EVO months in advance. I remember us complaining how they kept so very mum before, when we were hoping for just ANYTHING.... |

Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
Honestly i was caught off gaurd by Verizon having something similar to the EVO coming out so soon because it came out of no where. I have a sprint TP2 and a Blackberry Storm with Verizon (work phone) an i would never leave sprint for Verizon but it just seems like Verizon is doing all they can to catch up to AT&T the Android motorolla phone was a HUGE hit an i know a lot of people who jumped ship to Verizon because of that phone an now them bringing out the Incridible an so soon its like they are going HARD at IPHONES cuz honestly if it comes out soon with some bugs it really doesnt matter cuz they already got so many ppl already locked in a new contract. they just whip out the updates and fixes .. I have no idea why Sprint wants to be so Hoo Hmm with their phones The EVO is such a big deal that if it were to drop tomorrow i know people would be sleeping outside of the Sprint stores now! Just seems like Sprint is ok with always being in 3rd place in the Cell phone war.

If the Evo qualifies for 3rd place, then heck, I will be pretty happy with the bronze! |

My bad lol that was long i was venting! But yea ill be happy when i get the EVO but man i want more people on Sprint... I hate hearing people rave about Verizon's phones an iphones an its like damn were out numbered... I want a bigger voice in this cell battle!!! Hopefully the Evo really does catch fire an blow everything out the water! |

I'm guessing it has to be the phone selection. If Sprint had the iPhone, I don't think AT&T would be doing very well. If Sprint had the enV dumb phone and the Droid, Verizon wouldn't be as great either. Sprint does have some good phones, but they don't have the "popular" ones. The Evo is going to be the first popular phone (IMO) that they've ever had. The Palm Pre could have been that device, but shitty advertising from Palm probably had something to do with that failure. |

i also think sprint suffers from bad reputation from the past. i'd had sprint for quite a long time now, too and i honestly have nothing but good things to say about them. |
Re: uh oh.. we have a war..
Well i will say that there are some places where Sprint coverage lacks south of Atlanta.. but as others have said the main reason is reputation. That and the fact that customer service, even though it has drastically improved... absolutely SUCKS.
