Isn't May 9th the date the semi-finalists get notified? I seem to remember something about semi-finalists in the contest, which would indicate another round of voting.
But I agree 100%, the blog winners will have an Evo before everyone else. Generate some good "real people" hype, and create some sales for this device. Edit: I think I have it all figured out now. The 10 semi-finalists will receive Evos (they will be notified on May 18th). 4 of those will win vacations to a 4G city.
