Re: EVO Poll - Who wants a physical keyboard?

I really hate that so many phones are coming out without even the option of a keyboard version. I really prefer the keyboard to any software method that I've tried so far. You just can't simulate tactile feedback.

That said, because of the screen size, this may be the phone that lets me give up my keyboard. If only they could somehow combine swipe and multitouch.

Re: EVO Poll - Who wants a physical keyboard?

Does anyone know if they plan on making a simular phone in the future WITH a physical keyboard. I have tried swype and just using the regular on screen text on my TP2 and i just dont like it. It works well for short texts but for longer texted swype and just using the screen seem like a hassle.

Thats cause everyone is playing the "thin" game and keyboards don't help make the device "thin"...mostly HTC actually...

Even still there are a few phones coming with keyboard like Toshiba K01..not 4g but still.

Thin game= FTL lol but i understand why. With the large size screen the Evo will have it would make it pretty big with a keyboard. Wish it was a way to incorporate a THIN physical keyboard

well keyboard will never be thin or it will be hard to hold..but screen can be thinner once OLED becomes standard ..this will allow for thinner screens

The droid has a THIN physical keyboard and it got reamed for it because the buttons have no travel and it is basically horrible. The SIP keyboard will be much better then on the nexus one so already we are ahead of the game

If the EVO had a physical keyboard version, you would need one of these to carry it around:

Yeah, I get that. It's so annoying because it seems like one of those things where once a phone is past a certain "thinness," anything else is just showy for "Hey, look at our new phone! Look how thin it is!"

Personally, I'm not all that concerned with 4g at the moment. I'm not in a 4g market, and will probably be moving to a market with practically no chance of seeing 4g anytime soon. However, I just mainly don't see myself using it for anything. 3g seems plenty adequate for normal web browsing and app downloading. I doubt I'd be streaming hd video to my PHONE very often, no matter how luscious the screen may be.

Hahahahahaha! Spot on! I'd actually sacrifice a bit of screen real estate to add a keyboard. Although swype IS growing on me. Like I said, if I could get some sort of swype/multitouch hybrid monster, I'm pretty sure I'd be satisfied.

Well 4g is beyond only speed advancements but improved latency. You will even notice your web pages load a lot faster. Even similar to how they load on your desktop pc ideally.

Re: EVO Poll - Who wants a physical keyboard?

I thought I could never give up a physical keyboard myself after having a Mogul, then TP, and TP2, but after having "upgraded" to the Hero for a bit (which I will be returning to get my upgrade credit reinstated to get the EVO this summer LOL) I've realized that I can, in fact, get used to the on screen keyboards... and as somewhat frustrating the Hero's kbd can be, a bigger screen i'm sure will make it even that much better...

Plus like someone else mentioned, I would not be surprised to see someone come out with a case that has a bluetooth keyboard built into it like has come out before for other phones, so there's where all the physical keyboard lovers could get their groove on
