Re: Sprint 4G HTC Supersonic Images Leak

more on this topic:
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...o&mod=yahoo_hs

Quote:
Sprint Nextel Corp. is expected to unveil the first phone compatible with its fourth-generation mobile network at a wireless conference next week, according to people familiar with the matter.
The device, made by HTC Corp. and dubbed the Supersonic, represents Sprint's latest and biggest bet that its WiMax network and promises of a speedier wireless connection will reverse the struggling carrier's fortunes. The company is racing to make WiMax services, which are run by partner Clearwire Corp., available to more people as it hopes to exploit its temporary lead over the next-closest carrier with 4G aspirations.
The device is expected to be the centerpiece of a presentation made by Chief Executive Dan Hesse during the CTIA Wireless trade show Tuesday. Sprint and HTC declined to comment.
The Overland Park, Kan., wireless carrier increasingly has made WiMax the focal point of the company's strategy. "Expanding the coverage of 4G in 2010 will be an important catalyst for continued improvement in Sprint's post-paid subscriber results," Mr. Hesse said during the last quarterly conference call.
Earlier this month, Sprint said it changed its short-term incentive plan for employees, making new WiMax customers a priority. In January, it unveiled the Overdrive, a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot that runs on both the 3G and WiMax network.
The company previously said it plans to start selling a WiMax phone this summer.

Re: Sprint 4G HTC Supersonic Images Leak

I won't jump in right away i want to see what it can and can't do before i do.I have heard you will not be able to tether it and 1 thing i love about my tp2 is im able to use it as a internet connection for my PC if im on the road or my home internet goes out.

That will be the deal maker for me if it can be used like the tp2 as a modem.

Not being able to tether with the Supersonic doesn't make sense in my mind. Sprint indicates on their website the 4G data plan is unlimited, while the 3G is capped at 5 GB/month (data only plans). I would think they would try to include some type of tethering solution on the phone to show people the "power of 4G". But, you can always download a tethering app for Android, and go that route.

Re: Sprint 4G HTC Supersonic Images Leak

Id so prefer if this was a winmo6.5...cause Im not feeling the restrictions so far on 7. But I want that big screen so bad.

Would they only release this in cities that they have the 4G in? or release everywhere and when your city gets 4G you just get that boost?
