I believe you are a bit confused. When you go in store to pre-order. You end up buying a $50 gift card which you CAN apply to your phone purchase. We are talking about the gift card they give you after you purchase the phone as kind of a bonus.

I realized Wirefly doesn't issue that gay ass $50 gift card, so I went ahead and order two fo them from them instead of Best Buy. Now to cancel my Best Buy order.
