With the way technology moves, who knows by next year something even better and significantly at that will be available.

My current phone does what I want it to do and has all the goodies I need so I am good.
I hear ya, but, when I upgraded to the EVO 4G, I wasn't too concerned about when I would have 4G. I was coming from the Diamond, so hardware wise it was a huge upgrade. I don't consider the EVO LTE a huge upgrade but it's big enough.

Not yet that I know of but at least Sprint did not lock bootloader like AT&T did with HTC ONE.

Re: Who's upgrading to the EVO 4G LTE?

I think im just going to stick with my EVO 3D for now. Official ICS will be here within a month. not happy about the new EVO's lack of removable battery, as my first order of buisness is always to purchase the biggest extended battery available. love my 3D even with the brick sized 4000mah extended batt. I'd rather have a heavier phone then a light DEAD one.

I was concerned about this, but then I considered where am i really ever w/o a power source. I am either @ home, got power plugs, in my car got an adapter there too, or @ office yep working on a PC with USB cables. So its not really an issue. and if needed there are backup choices for batteries.

Are we seriously about to have to wait longer for this phone because of Apple's douche-bagery with these ridiculously petty suing patent claims?! I'm gonna be super pissed!

Yes. It's official and no one knows how long we have to wait.
