Quite true. I don't think my wife and daughter would appreciate it.

"Why the hell is the AC on? It's 20 degrees outside..."

"Honey, I can't let my EVO overheat and underclock. I am trying to watch the slingbox and make a phone call. wait. what are you doing?"

Then comes the sound of the EVO flying out of the window...

I like the official one, but Sprint also has a universal one that is very nice IMHO. It squeezes from all 4 sides and holds very nicely. I would recommend checking it out.

I have not used the one from Sprint, but if it's like many of the adjustable ones found on eBay/Amazon, I'd be a little wary. The plastic toothed rails on these wears out quickly over time. You will find yourself having to tighten it more and more to keep the phone from popping out after going over bumps and eventually it will not latch completely. I bought multiple ones on eBay and Amazon with poor results. I'm sure if you use it once a month, it may last a year or two.

It would be nice if everything wasn't made in China these days. I had to settle for this:

SlipGrip Car Mount Holder 4 Sprint HTC EVO 4G Phone W/C - eBay (item 140424858147 end time Oct-05-10 12:09:31 PDT)

I haven't received it yet, but I've used one for my Touch Pro for about a year. It holds the phone securely with no worries about moving plastic parts wearing out. Like many of the car mounts, it's made of plastic and plastic becomes brittle in extreme temperatures.

Piece of Velcro works for me. As long as I'm in the car, and have the phone stuck to it, it is not unsightly. Very inexpensive also.

It's for an EVO. If you don't have a good template for eBay listings when you sell the same product for multiple devices, then you get minor errors like this.

Anyways, I've been able to try it out. So far, it seems like a good car mount. It holds my EVO with a silicon case securely. Mounting/unmounting is effortless which is helpful when you need to keep one hand on the wheel. You don't need to crank on the plastic tab to remove it from the mount unlike the cheaper mounts on eBay, which eventually will lead to the tab breaking off.

My only complaint is the mount bounces around with the phone on there while going over small bumps, but that is expected with the gooseneck style mounts.

I would highly recommend this mount. 9/10

Very interesting mount. Just wonder how secure it is to the dash board and phone. Wouldn't want to drop evo.

You mean ProClip Mounting SystemÂ*-Â*Device Holders and Dashboard Vehicle Mounts. Not at all cheap though.
