Just thought I would post on here about my project.. Its taken me 3 weeks using a caliper but I finally was able to make a proper door. Tons of suggestions from XDA members..

Anyway, I am finally doing pre-orders. If the admins would like 1 or 2 for a review, please let me know.. During the pre-order phase I am doing free shipping and even offering multi door discounts starting at 2 doors..

This ROCKS! I've been looking for a battery door replacement and a clear one is going to be the shiz! I ordered 2 today from your pre-order site.

Nice to see something being made by a fellow member instead of the ill-fitting crap normally found on ebay.

Looks like good work!! I think the admins should receive a couple for testing, and a VIP member should too....like myself..lol. The clear is super cool and should be a big hit considering the nice red guts of the Evo. I am a big fan of yellow myself so I am interested in seeing that also!!

If we get enough people, I have no issue with giving 1 or 2 to the admins to review and then doing a contest with them..

Since its a group buy, we need about 75 more to sell so we can get them made..

As Joe will tell you, that prototype is merely to show the fit and hole locations. The final door will be transparent (prototype was hand-sanded).

I did the best I could without know the exact pantone #. I used a book we have at work and it should be really close to the inside red.

Just a quick heads up, the mold is being made, I am hoping to ship the week of the 20th (september)

I go on vacation the 10th to 18th.

Do you have any photos of the yellow battery door? You can see in my sig that I am a big fan of yellow and would love a yellow battery door if it is the right, or close to, color yellow. Would look nice under my yellow silicone case. Also, I may pick up a lanyard in each color. Not to hack my battery door with, but I could hook it in either my silicone case or tpu case easily. It would be nice when walking through the mall or a shopping center and playing with my phone. That way if it slips or someone bumps me then it would not hit the floor, but be caught by the lanyard. I wouldnt use it much, but think it would be great at times like that. Thanks for offering them, and I would advertise them to hook in a tpu or silicone case too and not just by hacking the battery door. Might increase your sells on them a little bit. Thanks, Mike

Since you are in the molding business, I have some suggestions. They are not practical but I will blather about anyway. I do wish HTC would have added some tiny feet on the front side. These could have been ~ 1/16 in on all four corners. Would allow laying the phone on the from face w/o screen contact. Maybe saved a screen crack or two. Also, a layard on the actual body would be helpful. Why they don't make the phone hemetically sealed to about 15" H2O (deeper than a toilet bowl), don't know. Simply rubber boot the power and vol button (similar to the condoms) and rework the mic and speaker(s). Can be done. Sell a "Sportsmen" model for $50 more!

Well, if you get real serious, maybe you could make a kit to the above standards

Got to be honest with ya man. I'm not really crazy about the rail on either side and the raised button/circle under the camera....They look to made really well, and as far as I know you are the only one doing this. This could be your retirement plan right here if its produced and marketed correctly...

Honestly, the good people over at xda helped with design. The rail and emblem are there to protect the camera and the actual door. That way when its sliding around your desk, the rails and emblem get scratched, not the whole door. Thanks for the feedback though, I love hearing it.

As for retirement.. just providing something people wanted.. not looking that far down the road I guess.. lol

Got the 2 new colors, CM cyan and android green. I have to say, they look really nice. I did update the videos on the site with 2 new one how I install and remove the door. You can see me take it out of the shrink wrap and put it on.

i read a few places that there was a problem with these battery covers where it wouldn't snap in correctly leaving space between the phone and the battery door. has this issue been addressed?

The clear one is great but I'd be leary of the colored ones. They are painted. I bought total of 4 painted ones and they still have the paint smell on them even after i aired it out. and with long use of the phone, it heats up and the smell of the paint gets worse. also, on the doors i received, they have spots where paint is missing or paint from another color is present in tiny places here and there but it's visible. So i'd just stick w clear door to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the warning because I seriously was looking at getting the clear one and also the blue one. But i'll just get the clear for now.

He does have some doors that aren't painted though. You would have to ask him which ones but I know yellow is one. N I think he said the blue one.

I was looking at the clear one and then looking at maybe getting the clear but painted blue inside also since its buy one get one
