Actually, just thought of a possible solution... get something like this and use it with one of the solar chargers that outputs to USB... not the most elegant of solutions, but could work...

I thought about that, but my understAnding is that it sends power out through the usb port to charge the phone. Not that it will take power in through the usb to charge the battery

Actually, the one that I linked to, from what I understand, takes power IN from the USB...

EDIT: Directly from the site's description: "The Multi-Function Battery Charger can also be used as a desktop battery charger when plugged into a laptop with a USB cable". So, I would assume, as long as the solar charger is outputting at least as much current as a USB port (500mA) that it would work...

most that I have seen would only have enough solar juice to trickle charge the built in battery. I suppose I could live with that, but I can never find any specks on the output from a fully charged battery, most are likely 500ma max.
