TV OUT HDMI to 3 RCA + VGA Cable M/M
 

So I dont have the EVO yet and not being able to use the tv out feature to a standard rca video is holding me back because I use the video out feature alot in my car and for displaying the poker timer app to my tv for home poker games.

So, I wonder if I use the EVO video out cable to the HDMI female to female adapter then to this cable, it should work? This would be the deciding factor for me.
I thought you needed some type of digital to analog converter, but not sure. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

I don't see that setup working without some kind of converter. HDMI is a digital, progressive scan signal (well depending on what you choose to output), and more than likely the display in your car wants an analog, interlaced signal. You've got 2 problems to solve there, and I don't know of a cheap, reasonable solution.

those rca connectors are RGB, not composite.

i'm actually wondering if htc didn't engineer a composite pinout, but maybe my glass is half full.

Anyone connect EVO with a car navigation yet (usually RCA cables)?

I don't think anything like this will work until someone actually hacks/cracks the hdmi port on the phone. I loved the tv-out function of my TP2 and assumed the Evo would work the same when I bought it. I hope its figured out soon...

there is no cheap alternative to go from HDMI digital signal down to a RCA analog signal. the cheapest option is a $300 converter.

well, I'm using a cleaver cheep converter.. lol it's a broken lcd tv that has a composite monitor out jack. :b

doesn't work so well in a car, but I'll bet we'll start seeing car components with hdmi inputs this holiday season.

The EVO HDMI does not display anything other than your own recorded videos. It does not even display photos anymore.

It is not like it clones or displays what's on your display, just in case if that is what you are planning.

YouTube, browsing, games, nothing displays..

**If you so happen to "find" a mp4 copy of, well just about anything. as long as the file format is for use on lets say an iPod it will play the video through the HDMI out. I purchased a 6 foot cable from Monoprice. + my 16gb, waiting for holiday deals for a 32 gb = Me never needing a dvd player again. :D

I carry around a few of the conversions to portable on my Verizon special 32gb, to keep the kids entertained and use my HDMI to display them on the TV.
