Seems as though someone found a way to make the HD2 Car mont work for the EVO... Seems to be a simple mod as well... If ayone is willing, it would be nice to have a how to written...

Give thanks to olimar for the find...

The how to is simple: he snapped off one of the clips. That's it. The charging port slides over to where the micro usb jack is and is held in place by the micro usb and the clip on the top. Both of the side clips are rendered useless, although you can see in his pictures that he left one on anyway.

It's a little sloppy; I'll wait for the EVO specific one.

Found these...looks promising. I'm thinking of investing on the "friction" dash mount. I live in CA...and its "illegal" to attach anything to the windshield.

Actually it is not completely illegal to mount to windows in cali
SB 1567 made it legal but
The new law, however, has an odd clause that specifies the GPS must be mounted within "a 7-inch square area in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver (the passenger side) or in a 5-inch square area in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver (the lower left corner of the windshield)." That means the most common and useful front-and-center GPS windshield mount is still banned

This makes me so thankful I don't live in that backwards state. ;)

Just got mine yesterday. Drove to work with it and no problems. Phone seems pretty stable in both landscape and portrait mode. So far I give it a thumbs up if all you're looking for is a simple mount. It doesn't require any silly discs to be stuck to your phone, and it's alot more sleek and cleaner than most other universal mounts.
