Opinions on Memory Cards for HTC EVO

I was thinking about going ahead and ordering a case and possibly a memory card in anticipation of the EVO hopefully dropping soon. If I recall correctly, I believe that this model will be coming with an 8 GB card or possibly 8 GB built in otherwise? Either way about it I thought I might ask for some advice on a couple of good options for more storage, 16 GB would be what I would probably be looking for. The one's that I've seen at what I might think of as a decent price seemed to be labeled as 'Class 2' speed-wise. I'm thinking that's a bit slow? If I remember correctly wouldn't the EVO benefit from at least a 'Class 4'? Opinions on options and if you have any links to great deals I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate them!

I would wait on ordering a case until you have the device in hand and order an SD card until much closer to launch date. Prices on SD cards tend to drop as time goes by.

Re: Opinions on Memory Cards for HTC EVO

Well I've never tried to write a 720p video to an MicroSD, so I would want at least a Class 4 for that, I think....If you aren't going to be recording 720p video to the card, then I would say a slower Class 2 would be fine. Just my 2-cents.

Pretty much what I was thinking as well but I was wondering if anybody knew for sure what level the EVO tops out at itself...i.e. if the highest level it can talk at is 4 then no need buying a 6? If anybody knows the answer to that question please chime in, and if anybody has a link to a great deal on a larger than 8 GB card in the optimum speed class then please post it for everybody's benefit. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Opinions on Memory Cards for HTC EVO

If I'm not mistaken the evo can support a class 8 card as well its just you probably don't need that much speed. The different classes on matter if you do a lot of computer to phone or visa versa transfers. Class 6 and 8 are kind of a waste of money.

Re: Opinions on Memory Cards for HTC EVO

Class 4 and 6 cards are definitely much better for heavy PC/Mac sync users but would also be better for Apps2SD. I have a 16GB class 6 and it works very well, but I have seen other users report issues with class 2 cards and Apps2SD usage.

Re: Opinions on Memory Cards for HTC EVO

I'm looking at a 16gb micro SD memory card that's a class 10 at MicroCenter and this rep is willing to work with me on purchasing it because he said its been there for a long time and wasn't selling due to it being overpriced. He said he will let me buy it for $70, which is good compared to other places online having it for $130 and so on. The only problem is I don't know is the EVO will support a class 10?!

Do you guys think it'll work with the EVO?! If not than does it just drop to the supported speed of the device or will it not work completely?!
