Re: Video Out

I found an option.. hdmi to composite box. http://www.svideo.com/hdmi2svideo.html

unfortunately its over $200. smh

oh well...it would have been nice to stream video (justin tv/orb.com/hulu) from the EVO to my car.

Re: Video Out

Surprising to see that HTC is not including their typical all-in-one ExtUSB port like they've used on previous phones, including the TP2... I guess with the separate HDMI out and 3.5mm headphone jack they didn't see the need to have an all-in-one port...

Re: Video Out

Actually, the Hero does have an ExtUSB port. I haven't tested it on my wife's Hero, but I'm sure it supports audio out. It may not support video out, but most likely only because Android doesn't support it, yet. They had to write custom libraries for the HDMI port on the Evo, after all.

yes it has the port but it didnt come with the adaptor... i have the hero and i never got one in my box. why would u need it though it has a 3.5mm headphone port on top and i doubt they did the drivers for the video out like they did on all the winmo handsets

Re: Video Out

Don't want to start an argument or hijack the thread any further, but I never said anything about an adapter, I was just talking about the port itself. I just meant that I was surprised at first to see that HTC is not using the ExtUSB port. That's a bummer because it means that existing chargers and other adapters won't work.

Re: Video Out

The Sprint web site states that the HDMI port on the EVO requires an optional cable. Hopefully they will bundle it in with the phone... HTC is usually very good about providing adapaters with the phone.

Re: Video Out

the port is a HDMI Type C or Mini HDMI port, same port as on DSLR like my Canon 50D that I can use to display my camera's pictures onto an HDMI equipped display. Monoprice has some HDMI type C to Type A for $10.

Re: Video Out

FYI, the HTC incredible has video out through MicroUSB. Just saying there is such a cable (there is a YouTube video demonstration).

As for the OP question, I don't know if the MicroUSB port supports video out.
