Video Out
I understand that video out will use mini HDMI, but will it also work via my current touch pro2 micro usb RCA cables?
|
Re: Video Out
Given that the TP2 is MiniUSB, you probably have MiniUSB cables, which would not work because the Evo is MicroUSB.
|
Re: Video Out
As you can see in this photo it has both the HDMI and a USB connection at the bottom seperately, though it's micro.

EDIT: Sorry, I missed the post by Cicatrize. Thanks. So will there be a microusb video out? I know HDMI vs RCA are two totally different formats (digital v. analog) yet the main tv I use to output tp2 video, uses RCA only. would suck to lose my orb.com capability in my car. |

Re: Video Out
The weird thing is..the HDMI port on the EVO looks about the same size as a micro USB port...or smaller even

Re: Video Out
you could always use a hdmi to comp or hdmi to analog box at that set
|
Re: Video Out
I found an option.. hdmi to composite box. http://www.svideo.com/hdmi2svideo.html
unfortunately its over $200. smh oh well...it would have been nice to stream video (justin tv/orb.com/hulu) from the EVO to my car. |
Re: Video Out
Surprising to see that HTC is not including their typical all-in-one ExtUSB port like they've used on previous phones, including the TP2... I guess with the separate HDMI out and 3.5mm headphone jack they didn't see the need to have an all-in-one port...
|
Re: Video Out
they didnt do it with the hero or the eris ither abrigham
|
Re: Video Out
Actually, the Hero does have an ExtUSB port. I haven't tested it on my wife's Hero, but I'm sure it supports audio out. It may not support video out, but most likely only because Android doesn't support it, yet. They had to write custom libraries for the HDMI port on the Evo, after all.
|
Re: Video Out
yes it has the port but it didnt come with the adaptor... i have the hero and i never got one in my box. why would u need it though it has a 3.5mm headphone port on top and i doubt they did the drivers for the video out like they did on all the winmo handsets
|
Re: Video Out
Don't want to start an argument or hijack the thread any further, but I never said anything about an adapter, I was just talking about the port itself. I just meant that I was surprised at first to see that HTC is not using the ExtUSB port. That's a bummer because it means that existing chargers and other adapters won't work.

Re: Video Out
The Sprint web site states that the HDMI port on the EVO requires an optional cable. Hopefully they will bundle it in with the phone... HTC is usually very good about providing adapaters with the phone.
|
Re: Video Out
the port is a HDMI Type C or Mini HDMI port, same port as on DSLR like my Canon 50D that I can use to display my camera's pictures onto an HDMI equipped display. Monoprice has some HDMI type C to Type A for $10.

Re: Video Out
FYI, the HTC incredible has video out through MicroUSB. Just saying there is such a cable (there is a YouTube video demonstration).
As for the OP question, I don't know if the MicroUSB port supports video out. |
Re: Video Out
According to the engadget review it has a standard HDMI Type D micro connector. SOURCE
A quick google shopping search found this http://www.mycablemart.com/store/car..._detail&p=2317, but listed as out of stock, no ETA, for about $13. -CC |

This video out is turning into more of a weakness than a strength.

I hope the usb will be able to throw out sd a/v so I can link it to my car stereo for videos...
hmmm.. I never thought about that being an option. |
