I wish they fixed the reception quality ( drop calls, phone is always on roaming, bad 4g recepton) my old touch pro 2 beats this phone hands down on reception.

I wonder if this will patch the root process... Hope the update is good and it doesn't screw with our root.

In case anyone is wondering, If your rooted, you should never do the OTA updates.

Not rooted and just ran update. Update includes 2.3.4 and a new swype keyboard. So far update feels like phone is smoother. Hope camera issue is fixed.
In regards to signal coverage I haven't had any issues since my phone was replaced. Also I use roam control which is awesome.

Re: Evo 3D Software Update August !8

The Update is available now. Just finished it and am extremely happy that HTC has fixed the problem of not being able to access the menu key when an inbound call comes into the phone while the screen is locked. The older Sense version on the EVO 4G allowed this to be done so that you could send a quick text message to the person calling you, instead of answering their call. This came in handy when I was on the phone and received another call, so that I could easily setup a canned text of "Thank you for calling, I am on the phone or busy right now, I will call you back as soon as I can" or something similar. Now I can enjoy my 3D even more!

Edit: I could have swore that this work initially, but now I cannot get it to work, so I guess they did not fix this. bummer.

I imagine that it'll break root with the ota. Every ota has broken root before i dunno what would change about this one, I advice anyone that has root just wait for omj to come out with a rom withing hmm lets say 5 hours? I actually havent noticed any of the following issues occur with my 3d..I heard someone say that the phone is much smoother. Ill confirm on this when i see it, right now my 3d is a blaster...im rooted with omj's latest, have a custom kernel RCMIX_3D_kernel, also have changed the proxy and the call volume..cant be much happier. Although i woke up with an error 16 upon my consience lol (costumer care took care of that quick fast). Im officially a geek :p

Hmm... that's odd... it worked ok for me. Upon restart, the icons for my apps on SD are showing up correct. (I had to change scene till yesterday to get the correct icons)

That is the only fix that will prevent me from trading in my phone for the GSII. Is the phone at least unlocked now?

When phone restarted after update the icons were there. I then restarted it and icons were the generic ones again.

I heard we can now take screen shots by holding the power and home key, is this true? I havent updated yet, I'm coming from the Epic n the update killed that phone. So I'm now very skeptical to update, i need to read reviews first...

I'm In New Jersey, I also had a touch pro2, (2 yrs ago) This Evo 3d is much better than the touch pro 2, as far as reception, and everything else too. maybe you got a bad EVO 3d? I'm on my 2nd one, but I wont be returning this one.:headbang:

The instructions I first read, told me to hold the power button then press the home key. This did nothing and I was confused. If you press both the home key and the power button together, the screen will flash, you'll hear the camera "Click" (if enabled) and you will also see a notification at the bottom of the screen saying the screen shot was added to your camera shots. This is a useful feature

No message came on the screen, but this did work for me.
... Just tried again & the message did come up this time.

Wow! Worked for me. Press the power button and then almost immediately, press the home key.

It saves the pics to your camera shots.

Updated, network signal seems to be a bit more consistent now. So how does this screen shot contraption work. If you hold the power and home button the screen just turns off and when you turn it back on it shows recent programs. I don't think I missed something or did I?

I didnt know there is a pirate version vs a non-pirate version of root.

What is the difference?

I just want it rooted so I can get the free WiFi and do a clean ROM with none of those bloatware.

Re: Evo 3D Software Update August !8

I am not going to to do HTC Unlock!

Here is someone else comment:

Since you followed HTC's method you are stuck as of right now. Their method unlocks your bootloader, but still has a NAND lock keeping you from flashing to different partitions. This situation is similar to the OG Evo if I'm not mistaken. Just wait around and a root method should appear

I have an interesting question. My wife and I each have an E3D and hers came with the bootloader unlocked!

So, how can they say that your warranty is void??? I rooted mine with the "other" method.
