Headphone issue

This may sound crazy but I think I've got to the bottom of the headphone issue. (music skipping). I've tried on three separate 3d I would appreciate some feedback.

It seems like headphones/aux cords with green rings on the 3.5mm do not work. For some reason the phone picks them up as headphones if you look in the top bar you'll see the headset icon. However cords with black rings work fine. I've tried this with four separate cords on three devices to the same result. Could be a coincidence please give feed back.

same problem. my headphones have black rings and my music also skips.. the phone also opens voice dialer by itself.. i find that when my music skips it is because voice dialer opened and is trying to start an app.

Re: Headphone issue

If i were you guys, id take the phone back to sprint. I had that problem with my first evo 3d, then returned it because i got disgusted with all the issues. I'm not gonna lie, it might be hard to return it because some stores (like the one i took it to) will lie and say it's ok but believe me try to get another one. I got another one from a different sprint store and never have that problem or any other problem. So keep that in mind.

it's weird.. sometimes i plug in my headphones and i get the headphones icon on top. then other times i plug in the headphones and get the headset icon.. if i keep replugging it till i get the headphones icon it works... stupid thing.. i'll have to hit the sprint store.

I have Jvc "gummy" headphones $10 at walmart. They are working like a charm. However I will try to exchange because I have other devices that simply will not work

Re: Headphone issue

Sounds like a faulty headphone jack. I don't have this problem no matter the color of the rings on the headphone/ audio cable. I would take it back and show them what it does.

Anyone try one of these to "fix" the issue?: HTC EVO 4G Audio Adaptor f/3.5mm to 3.5mm HS U350 (with Stereo Headset + HTC Logo, Retail Pack) #36H00622-04M - Expansys USA

Looks like a clever way for HTC to make some extra $$. I can use headphones OK but can't connect to my car's AV jack w/o all the skipping, etc. I haven't yet found a smaller/cheaper adapter, but I'm sure there's gotta be one somewhere.

Wow, Ok, now that you guys mention this... I have a headset that works fine. The correct icon shows up, all is well. When I plug it into my Pioneer car stereo with a 1/8 Mini stero plug to 1/8 mini stereo plug it shows up as a microphone headset on the phone. As a matter of fact, as soon as I plug it into my phone with nothing attached on the other side of the cord it shows up as microphone headset. Not sure of the colors on the jacks but i will check it out tonight when I get home.

I too have the same issue but I thought it may be from my commuter case's silicone getting in the way. My car jack is bent at 90 degrees but the one at work has no bend in it and it works fine.

Ok, I looked at the cable giving me a problem... It has black rings. Funny though. Its no longer screwing up. Seems to be working fine now.

Maybe It's the headphone app and not the jack It's self ..is it time email HTC

I pretty sure black ring is one way and green ring is two way right?

I thought I posted here, but guess not... If you guys plug in a headphone, fire up some music, and start wiggling the plug in the jack, you can reproduce the problems. If you can't, turn the plug and keep trying, you should be able to make it happen. Definitely contact HTC so they can work on a fix.

Re: Headphone issue

yeah there's a few problems. Some dialing program, and another program that starts other music programs! So if i'm in google music, then htc media player can start up. or if I'm in Subsonic, then google music starts lol

went back and they replaced my phone.. so far it's working. i noticed it is revision 0002 and that the power button on top no longer needs to be smashed with a hammer to wake up the device..

hahahahahahaha I'm happy you no longer have to do that. I laugh because your description was funny. And serves you well in conveying the frustration you had with it. Thanks for that! :D

Try a new cord. I had to purchase and try out 3 before I found a worker. Luckily radio shack took the other two back. $4.99
