EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Hello Everyone,
So I've been a Sero Customer for like 6 years now and have been holding out on upgrading to Sero-P (have the TP2) but this phone convinced me to take the jump. I really want the Evo 3D on the 24th. So I'm going to try to get it on the 24th. This is my experience so far 1) I pre-ordered the Evo3d from BBY a few weeks ago 2) I called Sprint Employee Line today 18886037981 and upgraded to the Sero-P account. 3) I asked them about purchasing from best buy and they said it's risky and that I should go to a corp store. 4) I called the corp store and asked if they could do it, and they said flat out "Nope, we'll jack your account if we try it" So here's what I'm going to do next - Call Sprint Employee Line again to ask if there's any other way to get my hands on the Evo3d by tomorrow w/out jacking my plan. If they have nothing for me, I'm going to go to Best Buy tomorrow, try to get the phone by having the sales person call Sprint and see if they can work it out. I know there are already a few threads out there on this topic - thought one specifically could be about how purchase day experiences went for Sero-P customers. Btw, my appointment with bby is at 8am. Thanks everyone! |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
All - just called the employee line again for Sero Customers and spoke to a nice gentleman named Nick. He told me that it's possible to get the phone through best buy but it just takes some extra effort. He said I should go to the store tomorrow and call the Sprint Employee line and they'll talk to the rep at the store to figure it out.
Keeping my fingers crossed! |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
That's essentially what I was told. I changed my plan to SERO-P earlier and spoke to a guy(forgot his name already :( ) who said that when Best buy calls to activate, they will have to call the employee line anyway and that he was one of the people who does support for the Best Buys.
I am bringing along the phone number for the employee line. Hopefully I can get the Best Buy guy to call straight to that line in the first place. |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Just got my phone!
So this is what happened: 1 - walked into the store at 8am and sat down with the sales person at best buy. (btw, she tried to sell me so many add-ons, best buy is nuts) 2 - explained to her that i have sprint employee referral plan and that we'll need to call the employee line to activate. She said fine and we called the line. 3 - while she was on the call, a douchebag sprint rep came over and asked what was going on. after we told him, he said sorry, we can't do this and the sales person hung up the phone. I was like "WTF?!" he then explained to me that Best Buy doesn't get reimbursed for sero deals, so they can't do it. 4 - i called the Sprint Employee line on my phone, spoke to a fellow named Charles and asked if he could help. He was really nice and basically switched me to a everything plus plan temporarily. I had to be slick about it, while Charles knew I was going to be switched back to the Sero, in front of the best buy and sprint rep i pretended I was changing it permanently. 5 - Charles stayed on the phone with me until the Evo 3d was added to my account under the everything plus plan, and as soon as it was added switched me back! I walked out of the store with the Evo 3d, some accessories that i think i'm going to return, and the Sprint Sero Premium plan! - btw verified it online. So def. possible to purchase from a retailer, just a bit of a hassle! |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
That is definitely new to me. I've never read anyone having to go thru that. I didn't think the activation part had anything to do with anything because it is an upgrade on a current plan, not a new activation.
I've read where people were able to get their phones from Best Buy WITHOUT them being activated in the store and the people did it themselves. |

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I went to a Sprint corporate store at 8AM, and was told that I had to wait til 6/27 to get an EVO 3D.
I complained, the manager came over and called Sprint, and it was all fixed by 8:20AM. I would like to think that my experience will help the Sprint people at the store get it done even faster for the next Sero Premium client (if they get any!) |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I am running into the same crap at a corp store. They better figure it out!

I too have SERO and about to get the SERO-P. Tell them to call Telesales at the store. |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I had to call *2 from my cell and hand it to the store rep. Ended up having to switch to a different plan for them to activate the phone, then immediately went back to SERO, lucky for me the store rep kept the phone rep on the phone the whole time and didn't just send me home to iron out the details myself! Haven't had much time to play with the phone yet, but signed into the Sprint Hub and went to download a "scene" and it's taking literally forever, not a good first impression!

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I had a great experience at my local corp store. I was using a upgrade from another SERO line on my account and upgrading my SERO account to SERO Premium. She said it would take a little extra time but 10 minutes later I was out of the store with an activiated EVO 3D. She didn't have to call anyone and everything just worked. For the first time in a few trips I was actually "very satisfied." I'll let you know if anything shows up wrong on my account but so far everything is working correctly .

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I still find it strange because when I changed my plan last night from SERO to SERO-P, the rep said that even tho I changed it, Best Buy would still have to call the Employee Accounts line(his department) and he said that he a a few others there were reps specifically for the Best Buy stores when they call in.
So why would Sprint have assigned reps in the Employee Accounts department, if Best Buy can't do the changeovers for employee accounts? Makes no sense. |

Nevermind

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
no problem other than the clueless rep at the sprint store

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I used evp since it was the only way to preorder with sero.
They shipped it out on Tues and received it Thurs afternoon. Had to call in since I was going from non 4g fee to 4g fee. wish they would get that fixed in the system. overall very pleased with the EVP program. |

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Mine went very well. At first the sales rep was having trouble at my corp. store. I told him I was on SERO if it helped and he whipped out a book, said he just needed the right code, and boom, it was all smooth after that.

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I went to Sprint store tonite 5 mins before it close.
The lady got the phone and ready to do my order. Then she said she cant do my order cause mine its SERO! I said you can call in. She said NO and the the assistant manager said NO too! I can believe this sheit! I just hate it. |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I don't see why so many of you had problems... my experience was flawless, the CSR I worked with had no problem activating my 3D on my Sero Premium plan. Didn't even mention it.

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
it was kinda a pain in the rear for me. i went through a corp store and they couldn't get the sales center to upgrade my sero to sero-p. sales center said they don't do it anymore and i would have to go on the everything plus or whatever it was. after some phone calls back and forth what they did was upgrade it to the everything plan then called custumer service and had them bump it down to sero-p. now why can they bump it down but not up? i don't know but the store rep, Brett, was very helpful and i look forward to giving a very satisfied on the survey.
i got a otter case and like it so far but the screen protector had a bend in it and the sticker won't come off >:( |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Well, I went to Best Buy and when the guy got to the part where he tried to activate the phone thru the computer, he said it was giving him errors because I had a really old plan(I have SERO-P). I told him it was a friends and family plan and told him to call the employee accounts number that I conveniently had written on a piece of paper.
He called and after a couple seconds handed ME the phone and the lady asked me my pin and asked what she could do. I told her I wanted to swap phones and she did it in about a minute. I handed the phone back to the BB guy and I was done. So no issues at all for me(other than having to guide the BB guy to the employee accounts line). Now to get a handle on Android(it's wierd coming from WinMo 6.5) |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
So other than buying the phone early, are there any benefits to going through BB?
I have the old sero plan, havent jumped to sero-p my 2 years is not up until december... but I really want the phone now. (if you have a tip on that) |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Wow my experience was incredibly annoying with Best Buy. The woman had the same issue BB always had but when she called, she seemed to not even care and pretty much told me there was nothing she could do. I called Sprint 2 times and both times said they couldn't do it, and was ready to give up all hope until I tried one more time. This time the woman was very kind and basically changed my plan to some $100 plan then when they were done changed it back to SERO-P. 1.5 hours later I was done...never going to Best Buy again!!!

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
got mine from the sprint store. they could not modify my account. I called employee care and they said I had to get the phone on the account first. I told the guy at spring do not touch my account. he said he had to switch it to apply the discount. anyhow I said whatever just give me the phone and I will call myself. I called and got an answer immediatly at the employee care line. He had my account changed to the sero p and all ready to go in a matter of minutes. I was very pleased with the support at employee care..

Btw...typing from the evo is going to take some time to get used to...no keyboard kinda tough at this point...other than that this phone blows my tp2 away!! |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Why dont you all save yourself grief and order it thru the SERO number 888.882.4030
Shipping is only 1-2 days. I am thinking of waiting until July 1 to activate it then that way I dont have to rememeber how many mins I have left. |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I did mine at the Sprint store, they had no problems at all swapping my Evo out for a 3d. I was in and out in about 15 mins.

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
My experience was pretty smooth. I've had SERO for a while. I went into my local Sprint store on Thursday and bought a $50 gift card to "reserve" my EVO 3d and the sales guy said it would be best to get me switched over to SERO-P then so we wouldn't have to monkey with it on Friday. So he did that without any issues, even though I was still using my TP2 at the time, the change to my plan took effect. The next day, he couldn't get the new 2 year contract discount to accept on the plan, so he just overrode the price of the phone down to $199.99. I half hoped that it would not use up my $150 renewal credit, but after checking later online, it did. Oh well, I'm glad everything worked out!

As for getting it now, you can call and ask to have your upgrade date moved up. Many people have had success doing that in a temporary fashion. Meaning, they got it moved up but it's only good till the end of June. It seems that I was eligible based on it being 5 months(or less) to my 2 year date, which was in November. I was eligible as of June 1st, which I didn't expect. I expected being eligible Sept 1st. So maybe on July 1st you will be eligible. Use the upgrade checker at Best Buy/Amazon/Radio Shack and see what it says. |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
I called sprint and they offered to do it over the phone and mail me the phone for $199 using the upgrade I'm eligible for ( havent updated in like forever on SERO).
They told me i would need to bump up my plan to one that cost $ 10 more (im guessing sero p) and then there is $10 charge for the 4g phone, so basically increasing my current Sero plan by $20 dollars ( i have the sero 500 min for $37 dollars). is everyone paying $20 dollars more to get this phone? |

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Are all of you Sprint Employees?
I'm confused - because I'm on an employee account, though I am not an actual employee - and I've always been told that my brother (who works for Sprint) has to order my phone through the computer system? Is that true? Or are there ways around it? - Live in Dallas, so no employee stores by me. I was also told I couldn't order the 3D until the 27th. (sigh) |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
If you are on a TRUE employee plan(which it sounds like you are) then yes, employees have to wait till the 27th(or so I was told my the Employee accounts rep). If you are on SERO or SERO-P then no, you shouldn't have to order that way as that is a friends and family type plan.

Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
Sharing my experience getting the Evo 3D...
I was due for an upgrade on 6/1 from my previous Touch Pro 2 on basic $30/month SERO. I'm not a premier customer but I figured I'd try to see if I could get in somehow since they were letting premier customers purchase it early. Gotta be a backdoor I thought. Well it wasn't too hard, I figured out the EVO 3D's product ID through best buy's website and googled it to find what I guess was a premier only link. Something like shop.sprint.com/APX515CKT I think it was. The store was marked as "private premier only customers store" yet I was let in. Surprisingly it let me complete the purchase on Wednesday the 22nd and it arrived the next afternoon. Super fast. As you can probably already tell, I hate dealing with any customer service reps over the phone so first I tried to activate it myself online. When I got to the point where I had to switch from my old SERO it would only let me choose their normal customer plans for way too much. I wanted SERO Premium. Based off comments on Russ McGuire's blog, I fired off an email to the everythingreferral@sprint.com email address and got an automated message stating it would take 36 hours (!) to hear back. So the next morning when I hadn't heard back via e-mail I reluctantly tried out the webchat assuming the worst. I spoke with a "Dave S." who couldn't have been any more helpful. He didn't waste my time, I politely asked him to change my plan from SERO to SERO Premium and add the Premium Data addon since I'm switching to an EVO 3D. With no hesitation, he switched it and even quickly did the phone swap for me. He didn't pitch me anything else or insult my intelligence or anything like that. By far it was the best experience I've had with Sprint customer service. On Friday morning i had my EVO in hand, activated on SERO Premium, and I didn't even have to leave the house. Doesn't get any better than that. Oh and its been 52 hours and I still haven't heard back via e-mail from Sprint's everything referral team. lol |
The store rep said I needed to upgrade to the 60 dollars a month plan. I told him I could upgrade on my sero premium and he called the national sales support line, the agent said I need a new plan.
I called employee account services, the rep agreed with me, she said to let them put me on the 60 dollars plan and that she would switch me back. Kind of a hassle but it worked out. |
Re: EVO 3D Purchase Experience for Sero-P Customers - How'd it go?
You all can do this free on Sprint website. I did it last Fri and I say it will add on $10 + $10, making it $50 when I was on the $30 Sero.
The reason I call in and went to the store is to trying hard to save the 50$ or 75$ peanuts. |
