Updates always remain after a hard reset. Also a hard reset brought it back for me but the problem is its still missing from the shortcut list under the lockscreen settings so if I now remove my phone short cut there won't be a way for me to bring it back.

burn, so what do i do? i use my cal a lot, so i'd have to update, but i don't want to mess up the lockscreen launcher arrrrrrrrg
