My question is will this actually effect the htc evo. 3d or did they just mean devices here on after? I would like some clarification on this since this whole debate was started over the 3d in particular

EXACTLY!!!! So many people on engadget are reading into this that the 3D will be unlocked - I didn't glean that from this posting.

Kind of reminds me of the old Saturday night live skit - You can never have too much water in a nuclear reactor

I hope that is a true e-mail. I'm not saying it is faked, I just would like an official anouncement to the general public.

There are a bunch of people posting on all the various forums who got similar emails. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
