Disable the voice dialer feature?

Is there a way to disable the voice dialer /caller for the HTC incredible?

Whenever I launch last.fm to stream music to my car stereo, for some reason the voice dialer activates and turns off last.fm.

I tried to go into settings to uninstall this feature but there is no option.

I have searched and only found one post about a cooked rom for the HTC diamond.

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

I hope that is sarcasm; because if you go to your "All Programs" listing in alpha-order at the bottom. There is a program that says VOICE DIALER.

It looks like this is an on-going problem with many of the music apps for most android phones. Oh well. It was working so well for about 30 minutes of a trip.

Wow, actually it wasn't saracsm... I never noticed that. I guess I just figured it would be a feature you'd be able to access from the phone dialer. That's what you get for trying to apply common sense... Anyway, sorry I don't have a suggestion for you other than maybe trying Pandora and seeing if the problem still occurs.

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

I apologize if I seemed rude; this is a frustrating problem and it occurs with Pandora, and playing music that is stored on the phone and last.fm. I guess I'll wait around for 2.2 to come out and hope there is a fix or a disable feature.

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

No not rude, I'm just surprised you can't get to that from the phone dialer. I tried when I first got the phone and couldn't figure it out so I assumed it had no voice dial.

Anyway, if it's also happening in Pandora then the problem sounds more systemic than a bad Last.FM install. You might need to try a factory default restore...

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

It is not a bad install or a bug. It is the phone picking up the music in it's microphone and assuming you want to use voice dialer to call someone. (Usually, that would be the case if you plugged a headset into the phone). As someone said, you would think the option to disable this feature would be under the Voice Dialer app, but it isn't. I haven't found a way to temporarily turn it off either.

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

I ave had the same problem. I have the HTC Inspire, and whenever I plug my headphones into it, my phone seems to think that it's a microphone or something, and it goes to voice dialar. I try to turn out of it, and then it starts going through my music, playing every song for only a few seconds at a time, then i have to go to my app killer, force stop music, kill the voice dialar, and try again. But it's the same story every time. I hope the new software update will correct the issue...whenever that is.....

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

Hi All,

I am facing the same prob. I am using HTC inspire and irrespective of the music app (Pandora, spotify, inbuilt player), my voice dialer comes up. In fact I can't even have a peaceful call using headphones anymore. it keeps bringing up voice dialer n disconnects my call. This has only started since a couple of days and is driving me crazy. I can't even force stop the voice dialer

Re: Disable the voice dialer feature?

Go to music player app>play a song>insert headphone jack>open favorite streaming player>play song>stop music player app You should see that its the headphone symbol instead of voice speak symbol onthe status bar. Only way around i know. I think this bug is intentional. This and other thingslike my phone restarting repeatedly around 2a every morning started happening after the last update. I think this is intentionally being done to get people to buy more phones.
