I think you are right, that is why the VVM and other things are working. I think these are still a little buggy, but a lot of people are using them daily.

Not yet, but the devs are working feverishly on rooting the 2.1 ROM now, as they assume all new Eris phones will have that installed.

Okayy, So what are the problems so far with this. I want to know if its worth it to download now, or to wait for the official. Also, when the official is released, will my phone recieve it? Or no..?

i think the official was a rumor. i dont think it will come out any time soon if at all. the Eris's end of life cycle is in May(well when the Incredible drops in April I think) so I doubt they will still support it. So your best best is to either use the 2.1 leak v2 or use the rooted 2.1 with somebodys custom rom. your still on 1.5 so you can root. but dont upgrade to 2.1 leak and then change your mind to root. wont happen, at least not yet. 2.1 is alot better then the 1.5. trust me when i tell you its worth it. from the updated UI to updated market. its worth it

custom roms for the rooted. leaked rom is just the "official" 2.1 theres more as well. check xda for the differences

So for a simple person like me (who really has no intentions of flashing ROMs around and such) and wants as little bugs as possible, which update would you opt for? Does this mean that I wont get the OTA 2.1 update (which most likely wont come so its not a big deal).

Be AWARE that for some users megaupload has a pop up ad that if clicked on serves up a pretty wicked set of trojans and key loggers. It will only occur if you click on the popup link. I downloaded and installed sucessfully from the above link, but others have reported problems.

It installs the same way the first leak installed, and will wipe the phone.

Should I go with this one or the one on the first page??
