5/20 - Toggle 1X updated for 6.5.1/3 Drastically increase battery life!)
 

Toggle1X script has been updated to work with 6.5.1.

Mortscript is required, and you need Mode of Operation in your Registry.

The CAB should install it, but just in case it's located:

HKLM/Software/OEM/PhoneSetting

HiddenModeOperationPage should be 0.

If you're having problems, make sure Mode of Operation is the EIGHTH option in your settings, it should be, but just make sure.


If you're not familiar with it, check it out. If you do a lot of texting, switching from EVDO to 1X can drain the battery INCREDIBLY quickly, using this script is an almost instantaneous way to switch between them.

Leaving the phone in 1X is proven to increase battery life, VERY drastically if you're a heavy texter. Just switch to EVDO whenever you need data, then switch back.

Check it out, make sure it works.

(Note: MSCR file is placed in /Program Files/intx/Toggle1X/, Shortcut placed in Programs).

Nice! I love your script, man. This has DRAMATICALLY improved my battery life, one of my biggest complaints about my phone.

2 issues, I had this reg key set to 1, so even with the other reg key set to 0, it still wasn't showing the right page and the script kept going into Plus Code Dialing instead. Since setting that reg key to 0, the script went into the right page but it doesn't change anything, doing it manually works fine tho. Great idea BTW, I might as well leave it on 1x as I rarely use data anyways

Yeah, that's it.

It's all based on coordinates. Which menu style are you using, 6.1/6.5 or 6.5.1?

6.1/6.5 use the older version, this one works fine for me on 6.5.1

How do you change to evdo? I have to go in and change the reg key every time?

I'm on 6.5.1, 23053 and it doesn't select 1x but selects Hybrid fine tho. Also you should make 2 version, 6.1/6.5 & 6.5.1, so I can include both

Yeah i tried the 8 down one on 6.5.1 and it isnt toggling to 1x. I went to settings and was able to toggle manually though.

hey bro! I was just looking at your single post in that link and I install them all but.... I think i require a 9 down cab, as i install the 8 down but only goes to voice mail and mode of op is right under... so much thanks if u can make me a 9 down or so ^^

OK, so in Phone->services I have 6 options - Location setting, Voice Privacy, Network Service, TTY Mode, Time Synchronization, and Emergency Call Alert. None of these would seem to be the right menu, do I need to install something else first?

I may be able to help out.
This is what I just did on my "Sprint" Diamond.
I am not sure how the settings are on the "Verizon" Diamond, but you can check.
You have to make a registry change.
Go to >
HKLM/Software/OEM/PhoneSettings
and go down to HiddenModeOperationPage
and change value to 0 from 1.
You can then go to Phone and Options and see "Mode of Operation" added to the list.
Then download MortScript and then download the Appropriate Cab.

You can edit it yourself, it's stored in /Program Files/intx/Toggle1X

Just edit the mscr file with a notepad type application, change the repeat(8) to repeat(9)

I'll get the fixed release for 6.5.1 out today.

sorry to be a pain but does anyone have the correct mortscript cab? I found a bunch but they seem to be altered. my search skills are not good tonight :)

Thanks, I installed the mortscript 4.2 ppc cab from the site. but it still doesnt work. says it cant find the mscr file although it's listed in the correct place. in phone options, settings, mode of operation is listed but I went into the registry and its not listed. oh well, I guess I can still get there with a couple taps.

OK, I installed Mortscript and the 6 down cab, which is where my mode of operation is. After soft reset, I hit the toggle1x link, and it opens to the settings page and scrolls down to mode of operation, but doesn't actually change it. If I set it to Hybrid it stays there, if I set to 1x it stays there regardless of how many times I trigger toggle1x. Any ideas?

What OS version? The 6 down was released for 6.1.

after testing, I notice with the GUI of 6.5.1, it lags a bit when toggle1x flys through it, so I may have to release a slowed down version.

Sometimes when I press the shortcut, the mode screen appears, you see the toggle choice change, but the mode screen stays until I press ok.
Sometimes, the mode screen appears but rushes thru without changing the mode.
But MOST of the time, the whole process works PERFECTLY.
The other blips are inconsequential.

I've been using this since it was released originally. Too bad EVDO doesn't support sending text messages or phone calls through it.

Never knew about this tweak until I read this thread.
Time will tell regarding battery life in regards to my usage.
But from what you have said, it should make a nice difference.
Again, it is relative to the way one uses their device regarding data sessions, etc and how frequently they need EV.
But I think it will make a nice difference.

Verizon Diamond, so no ROMs, so 6.1.

Noticed when sending text messages (and sometimes when receiving) that the data indicator changes from Ev to 1x. Is this normal?

Yes. EVDO cannot carry SMS or voice data due to design, cost, hardware, and network limitations. EVDV was being developed simultaneously but because it was cheaper to use EVDO they used that. EVDV had support for SMS and voice. Hopefully with upcoming 4G technologies that will change.

so the verizon diamond already uses 1x for voice and text and EVDO only for data? I'd hate to see how bad battery life is if it used EVDO entirely.

It can't use EVDO entirely.

What kills the battery is the switching from EV to 1X every time you send/recieve a message.

You packaged the cab wrong I think, or the one I downloaded was. It points the shortcut to /Program Files/intx/Toggle1x.mscr and there is another folder called Toggle1x under intx.

What happens if I don't toggle 1x OFF before I use data or phone call? I still can do everything without switching again so I just wondered??????????

EVDO is much faster than 1X for data.

EVDO cant send/recieve texts nor use the phone.

Intx, the program needs a little updating for the newer builds of 6.5.1. I tried it on 23071 and it just doesn't scroll down when it loads the part where you can scroll down for the Mode of Operation.

I would love to edit if I was using it.

You can edit it with Notepad to try to fix it though.
