Time Zone Changes

I have noticed a strange problem with recent builds of 6.5. I'm currently using Calkulins' kitchen with 23017, cooked my own ROM, and am not using Manila at all.

When i travel (and i watched it happen on the road this weekend) from central to eastern time zone, the phone automatically updates itself without any problems. When i travelled back into Central time zone, there was no change. I waited 10 hours and nothing ever updated, so i had to change the time zone manually. I have noticed in the past that this has happened traveling west as well, but thought it was just a one time glitch.

I travel a lot, and it's important that my phone and calendar keep up with what time zone i'm in. Does anyone have any idea what's going on, and how i can fix it?
