Amaze is OK, nothing compared to Sprint's navigation, though. Amaze has a decent display and tells you when to turn, but re-calculating takes much longer than Sprint's.
I also tried nav4all. Display (arrows only) must be for those with limited or no data plans, who want to have no internet use. Seems to work, just not very pretty. Voice tells you when to turn, and would be better than nothing. Recalculating took less time than Amaze, but longer than Sprint's.

I like Live Search.
It doesn't talk to you but it does beep and give you clarification that you are on the right track. You have to select track me with gps. It's free too.

Re: Navigation recommendations?

+1 for Garmin XT. I wish it had Text to Speech (The ability to say "Turn left at Swan St" instead of just "Turn left"), but that is by no means a deal breaker.

The UI is straight forward, the graphics are excellent, recalculation time superb, Google is integrated, you can download tons of Points-of-Interest info, Speed-Cam locations, and did I mention that it's visually appealing? lol

Honestly, if you're in the U.S., Garmin is the one. Once they add TTS, it'll be perfect.

Thanks. I went to their site and found an update to their software (less the help files, voice files and basemap files) but don't know where to find the rest. Not even there as a trial, unless I'm missing something.

EDIT: the product page is missing, perhaps they no longer sell it?

Re: Navigation recommendations?

No Prob! Next time please hit the thanks button LOL Hey bro, the link is here, or you can just go directly to the Garmin Dealer's pages in NY, some sell it online. Don't ask me why Garmin does this through affiliates though, lol

Re: Navigation recommendations?

I've always been curious about most of these products with the Diamond since they come on a microSD card and the Diamond doesn't support that. Do you just use a card reader on your PC and the copy it over to internal storage?

Re: Navigation recommendations?

Is there any gps software that doesn't require a data connection? I have a diamond and job moved me to an area (300 miles away from home) temp (a year!!) and there is hardly any phone services, the closest tower to where I am is 13 miles!!! So since I was out of contract, I put my phone on vacation for $6 a month and just got a basic pay as you go, no sense on spending $100 a month for something I can't use!!!

Is there any gps software (even if it's just basic mapping) that I can put on the phone, being 300 miles away and in the country with all the back roads, I seem to get lost more then I don't!!!

Thanks for any help
